This question is asked frequently. That is because the Kimber Solo has a mixed reputation. It got off to a bad start when Kimber first introduced the Solo. I bought one of the very first. The first 450 rounds I shot with my Solo were flawless. It worked so well that I experimented with all kinds of ammo and it still worked well. I didn't have problems with it until after I got it back from Kimber after Kimber replaced the slide and barrel for slide peening. The Solo was never again as good as before I sent it in. But again, that was an early Solo. If you read the forums you will find Solo owners who claim no problems at all. Then every once in a while you read about a Solo with problems. I think it is very possible that you could get one of the new Solos and have a great experience with it. If you have an interest in the Solo then I say go ahead and give it a try. The new ones may very well work out fine for you.
After the third trip back for repairs I finally returned my Solo for a full refund. I also had a new Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II that I traded off. No more Kimbers for me. However, I still like the Solo and one of these days I just may try the new improved Kimber Solo STS model. I still have a holster, magazine holder, and extra magazines. Maybe I'll put them to use with a Kimber Solo STS.
