Keep the Receipt

This is worth reading if shopping at stores....
They do not automatically hand you a receipt anymore if the sale is
under $30.

You must ask for it!

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS BEFORE LEAVING THE CHECK-OUT

An associate bought a heap of stuff the other day while on
holidaying in Melbourne (over $450), & when he glanced at
his receipt as the cashier was handing him the bags, he saw cash
out of $20.

He told her he didn't request any cash and
to delete it. She said he'd have to take the $20 because
she couldn't delete it.

He told her to call a supervisor.
Supervisor came and said he'd have to take it. He said NO Bloody way!

Because taking the $20 would be a cash advance against his Credit Card
and he wasn't paying interest on a cash advance!!!!!

If they couldn't delete it then they would have to delete the whole order.

So the supervisor had the cashier delete the whole order and
re-scan everything!

The second time he looked at the electronic pad before he pinned in his number and again cash-back of $20 popped up.

At that point he told the cashier and she deleted it. The total then came out right.

The cashier said that the Electronic Pad must be defective. Obviously the cashier knew the electronic pad was defective because she NEVER offered him any cash after either of the transactions.

Can you imagine how many people went through before him and by the end of her shift how much money she pocketed?

His wife went into a Coles Warehouse last week. She had her items rung up by the cashier.
The cashier hurried her along and didn't give her a receipt.. She
asked the cashier for the receipt and the cashier seemed annoyed
but gave it to her.

She didn't look at her receipt until later that night when back at their Hotel. The receipt
showed that she had asked for $20 cash. SHE DID NOT ASK FOR ANY
CASH, NOR WAS SHE GIVEN IT!

So she called Coles who investigated but could not see that the cashier pocketed the
money.

They then spoke with a friend who works for one of
the banks; they told them that this was a new scam that was
bound to escalate.

The cashier will key in that you asked
for cash and then hand it to one of her friends when they next
come through the check-out queue.

This is NOT limited to Coles; they are just one of the largest retailers to have the
most incidents.

I wonder how many "seniors" have been,
or will be, "stung" by this one?????

To make matters worse .... THIS SCAM CAN BE DONE ANYWHERE,
AT ANY RETAIL OR WHOLESALE LOCATION!!!

IT COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT
BEFORE LEAVING THE CHECK-OUT.........

...CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!!!!

I've since seen people do just that!! SO NOW I'LL START!

PASS THIS ON TO YOUR FRIENDS, KIDS, LOVED ONES -
let’s not get ripped off.

I remember hearing about this a few years back and some people will try and argue that you have to use the key pad to get cash back, but that is not true. When I get cash back I ask for it and 9 out of 10 times I never press the cash back button.

After hearing this story I always double check my receipts and have found a few errors.

Yep, I got it my email and, no I don't check Snopes. If it is true, by the way, what is the harm from alerting people to a possible scam? Better to be aware of the possibility than to get burned! Testy, are we?

WHY would anyone trust snopes on anything???? Perhaps he should check snopes to see if he is alive, brain dead or even exists!!! He may be surprised at the answer he gets!!!

And I better be worried about JC coming also, right. There comes a point that the paranoia really does interfere with life.

No, not testy, BS is BS, and no matter how much you polish a turd, it is still a turd, although perhaps a shiny one.

And major retailers, the cashier tells you the total you owe, and you have full control of cash back or NOT when you swipe your card, and decline or request a specific amount of cash back.

I wanna be blinded by the shine on that turd there Marine.

Your sources are questionable, like the Mosque sign you posted a while back, and others.

But of course you immediately recognized that "Coles Warehouse" is a chain store in AUSTRALIA.... right?

VS. and anonymous email forwarded by an anonymous user on the internet, who has been duped by "emails from friends" before.

Gee XD, if you are referring to me as a Marine, you have your head where the sun doesn't shine. But, anyway, yes I did get an email about the supposed scheme. Since you seem to doubt it, PM me your email address and I will forward it to you. But then again you would still doubt the authenticity of it being sent. No problem. It would be easier for you to deny if you didn't have the proof otherwise. No, I had no idea where the particular place was, only passing on what sounded plausible and might be of interest to others. Possibly someone could be saved a lot of misery by knowing something like that. Seems to have offended you but, I'll guarantee you, you will not even remember it in 100 years.

Yes, you should be worried about Him coming back after all the profanity you have used against Him. Hopefully you will come to believe in time. I certainly hope so, regardless of your opinion. XD, it seems like you have your underwear in a tight but you seem to be the only one bothered. But, not to worry, I (and we) can take all the criticism you want to throw out. If I, and others, seem to get your goat, all I can say is get over it. Like you, we will not change and will continue to enjoy life. It is such a wonderful gift and shouldn't be wasted in petty arguments. I guess this is where we stand for now.

No, I don't doubt that you got the email, the problem is that you believed it, apparently without question. Seems we have been down this path before, recently.

As GW once said;

The horse is fine, just hasn't learned from its mistakes yet.

Ok so they story is ********, who cares? Go to any gas station and request cash back, you DON'T have the control you think you do. Sure not everyone is out to rip people off but it only takes once.

Funny stuff. Asking for a receipt is not a bad practice. But dealing in truth instead of deception is also preferable. If someone points out my error I'd appreciate the tip, rather than attack the one who helped keep me right.

Oh you got an email, it MUST be true (like the sign you posted a while back?) The retired Marines I know ain't near as gullible.

Well, dang, there's a first time for everything and this time I've gotta agree with Oldgrunt, ya sure are testy, XD40scinNC.:haha:

But I suppose that's about a thousand times better than being than being gullible and easily fooled.

Speaking of things in email, I got this one yesterday that said if you flash your headlights at someone because it's getting dark and they're driving around with their headlights off, it means they're going to kill you as part of a gang initiation. I'm scared it might be true, because, you know...... I heard it on the internet an' everything.:dirol:
