Trying to nail down a new purchase based on availability am considering either a kahr 9mm compact or a Bersa 380 it appears the Bersa has a one year warranty only does any one know about kahrs warranty? Both guns seem fit the need very well but the final issue I have to resolve is will one give better servide down the road. Dont want to be penny wise and pound foolish.

Thanks

I've got the Kahr CW9 and the PM9. They're great but you must properly go through the break-in period. Kahr doesn't have a warranty per se. If it doesn't work, they'll make it right. Period.

9mm over .380 every time, that said, Kahrs, especially the cm9 have a high rate of not working well out of the box

Had a CW9 that was my EDC for months. The gun shot good once you got through the break-in period. Trigger pull is long but steady (DAO) and on some Kahrs to manipulate the slide and recoil spring is not for the weak. I did have some excess wear on the frame, but not a sbad as the reports I have read on their new CW380's. All in all a good gun, had mine for about 6 months and traded it in.

Kahr without a doubt if ya have the money but Bersa makes a good product too. I personally would also opt for the 9mm

I don' own a Karh and never will. But, I have several Bersa's and love them. You might check on the Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact if you want something a bit heavier in caliber than the .380 and just as small. The only problem I have ever had with the Bersa is with my .32acp. I needed to polish the feed ramp to get it to eat all ammo.

major thank yous

Bersa warranty is one year + lifetime to original owner Link Removed

Kahr warranty is five years Kahr Arms - A leader in technology and innovation (towards bottom of page)

I have had Bersa and liked it, but now own CM9 Kahr... & for me it is perfection
I think the Bersa will win then I had looked at the kahr with my wife and she noted difficulty operating the slide too. I really would like for her to carry some thing a bit bigger than her sr 22 but loaded with stingers it is a good compromise. She is quite good with too so its a win win especially when the whole family gets to practice together.
Thank you

Carry a Bersa Thunder .380 with me every day. Love it! Highly recommend it. Honestly can't believe you've found one! Kahr has a good reputation, but I've never fired one, so I have no knowledge of them.

Bersa has a lifetime warranty to the original owner. Bersa is also known to be the most accurate of the .380s, due to the fixed barrel. I've never found cartridge that my Bersa .380 wouldn't eat. Never had a failure of any kind with either my Bersa .380 or my Bersa 9mm..
I have a Bersa Thunder Pro 9mm Ultra Compact which I carry on a daily basis. It is slightly larger and heavier than my .380, due to the double stack magazine, but is still very easy to conceal.

Another big Bersa fan here-- I'm partial to the Thunder 45UCP model myself, but you may want to consider the Thunder 9UCP.

i have the kahr pm9 with a fist #1 holster. has a rubber sleeve on the grip, wolf power springs loaded with hollow points.
love its feel, and weight.
have keltec p32 as back up carry, holstered with knife clip and fmj. so light it's not even there.

I've had both. I had a Bersa 380 CC. I really liked it, except the finish. I now have a Kahr CW9. I love everything about this gun!!

Another vote for Bersa! I had the UC 9mm Pro and it was a quality product. My Father carries it now. I would have but its a tad bit too bulky for me, but the .380 should be perfect.

I loved my Bursa CC 380. I carried it during the summer time as it was light and small. Great little gun and very accurate. The wife wanted something for home defense (if she was home alone) so I gave her my Bursa and just purchased a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm for my EDC.

Howdy,

Have you thought about a Kel-Tek PF-9?

I have one for CCW when I cannot carry something bigger, which is rare.

Have have close to a 1,000 rounds through mine without a hiccup of any kind.

Plus it was the gun of choice for George Zimmerman.

Speaking of George Zimmerman, it looks like he has gotten his dumbass in trouble again. Looks like the cops are going to sweep it under the rug, again.

Kahr CM9 IMHO 9mm in a reliable gun. I have well over 1000 rounds through the CM9 and have never had a FTE or FTF. I followed the Kahr break in as directed. My Kahr is not picky on ammo. I have shot everything from modern SD loads to very sketchy reloads. All good. I do carry .380 from time to time but the Kahr CM9 actually works well in pocket for me with most of my pants. Only on days requiring very deep concealment do I carry .380. I am not a fan-boy of Kahr as I also own Rugers, S&Ws and Glocks. I just like the Kahr for that size gun. I carry S&W Shield .40 when I carry IWB because i like carrying a .40 when I can however there are times when the pocket is most convenient.

Many different things to consider. 9mm or .380. The 9mm definitely has ballistic advantage but some may have difficulty with slight increase in recoil. I carry a Kahr P9 and had to send it back when I first got it because the magazine would fall out each shot. They made it good and polished the ramp for my trouble. The Kahr is certainly simple to operate...just pull the trigger. No safety, no external hammer. My sister has the Bersa Thunder .380 which is a clone of the Walther PPK. Well made and solid, fits great in the small or large size hand. I really like the DA/SA of the Bersa and the de-cocker. Bersa also makes a very good 9mm you might consider.
