Kahr Arms PM9

Any opinions on the Kahr Arms PM9? A friend carries one concealed and I had the opportunity to check it out. I am looking for something more compact then my Glock 19 to carry concealed IWB. I would be open to any other suggestions. I like having 15 rounds at my disposal, but I figure if I haven't stopped a BG after six or seven rounds, are the other 8 or 9 going to help me? Hopefully I never have to find out.

Anyway, I am a remodeling contractor and need something that I can comfortably conceal all day while I am working.

Thanks for any input.

I carry a PM9 with Crimson Trace laser in a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck IWB holster. The gun is slim, lightweight, and more accurate than other guns with such short barrels. The DAO trigger is smooth and breaks at about 6 lbs. Reset is long much like a revolver. These small guns do require 200 - 300 rounds of break-in.

I have the PM40 and really like it. It is sleek, stylish and very reliable. The PM9 is the same size. I use an inside the belt holster, but it usually ends up in my pocket. I have never had a mis-fire or any hiccup with it. It isn't as accurate as my Glock 27 but at 10 yards it puts them all in the black. I do prefer the 40cal over the 9mm, but they have so many defensive rounds out there now for the 9, it shouldn't really make that much of a difference.

Here are my conceal choices, but I usually end up with the Kahr or the SW pd360(357 w/Crimson trace).

I wear a Kahr MK9 (stainless steel sibling to the PM9--same dimensions) all day, every day in an IWB custom holster. I don't even know I have it on me anymore as it snugs into my waistline very comfortably.

There is nothing I'd rather carry than this gun. This gun has good heft (PM9 will be a lot lighter but pretty much the same dimensions), is VERY THIN, the trigger is outstandingly smooth, it loves JHPs (but can be finicky about some of the cheap FMJs), and nothing feels better in my hand that the MK9.

I wear the gun at the 2:30 position IWB, and can conceal with just a T-shirt (I am a slim 5'6" woman).

I highly recommend the Kahr line of pistols!

I have the PM9 and the CW40 both are very compact, thin and easy to carry in a IWB holster. If you have your heart set on the PM9 you may want to wait for the CM9 the same as the PM9 but a few hundred dollars less. CM9 comes with one magazine, PM9 two magazines, CM9 standard barrel rifling, PM9 polygonal rifling. Had the Glocks but just to thick for me, love my Kahr’s PM9 or my CW40 on my hip, LCP in my pocket.

I have an MK40 an love it! The size of the PM and Mk models are the same size and will fit in your pocket if you desire...just add a good holster. The trigger is smooth as butter and are set to between 6 & 7 lbs of pull from the factory.

I had a CW9, and still kick myself for selling it. Kahr builds a good pistol and the PM series is one of the better ones out there. If you buy one, don't be stupid, like me, and sell it.:cray:

I just picked up a PM9 after reading all the great review's! A well made piece..u can get it online for about $630.

Here's an interesting photo showing the differences between the CW9 and P9. My EDC is a Kahr CW45 with two extra mags. Great little gun and much easier to conceal and carry than my Glock 31.

I've carried a PM9 as my main carry gun since I got my plastic in '04 ... it has NEVER failed in any way since new, is accurate at SD distances and IMHO one of the best concealable weapons on the market ... I am retired and in the tropical climes of Central Texas I pocket carry 8-9 months of the year in cargo shorts ... when it gets chilly, I carry in a fobus kydex paddle holster, either strong side or cross draw (very versatile) ... as for capacity, I have the gun loaded with the 6-rd mag, carry the 7-rounder in my weakside pocket for a reload if needed ...

I'm new to this forum. Have carried concealed for 4 years (just renewed my permit) having carried several guns including keltec PF9, P3AT, and SW 642. I just bought a new Kahr CW40, shot 100 rounds today and am impressed. Small package with a lot of firepower in a 40 cal. Very managable recoil and absolutely no issues or malfunctions. Price at local GS was $399.00 plus tax. Worth a look
