Impossible to tell from the news story. It doesn't give any details on the altercation that "spilled outside" and resulted in the shooting. News reports aren't usually great for giving the kind of detail you need for legal conclusions anyway.

Nope. The store owner's life wasn't in danger and the robber was fleeing the scene.

Although, because he inflicted a non-fatal injury and was the victim of a crime, I imagine he's not going to get much punishment.

They need to pipe down in Florida, though, or the whole nation is going to be rallying for stronger gun laws there.

yea i was thinking that to because the shop owner followed him out but i may have done the same to see which way he went to let the cops know which way he was heading ....but then could be the guy turned around?? will be another interesting story to follow up on and how the story unfolds and if the shop owner was justified in following him out and which he was in my opinion as to try see which way he went to alert the police as which way he headed.......but if the guy didn't turn around and was still running away will be another story

It didn't verbatim say the owner followed him outside. It said an altercation spilled outside, implying that it started inside. Maybe he followed from around the counter and that's where the altercation began. Like I said, news stories don't give enough detail for logical conclusions. The story actually contradicts itself and even misspells the suspects name. But if you feel you absolutely must come to a conclusion based on incredibly sparse information, then go with the only direct quote from the police. “The robbery occurred, and there was an altercation that spilled outside." That isn't following someone outside, boys and girls. And I'll take a cops word over a reporters any day of the week and 20,000 times on Sunday. Based on that, it would be a righteous shoot. But, as I stated earlier, there really isn't enough info here to REALISTICALLY come to a supportable and logical conclusion.

so you're saying the shooting was justified if the shooter followed the crook outside?
that is what i'm trying to find out was it spilled outside or did he get his gold and flee and the owner chased him is what i want to know in order to decide if it was justifiable or not
like if someone robbed my watch and ran out i know by law i can't shoot him while he running away but if he turned back.......see there are too many untolds here to make a decision

Exactly. If he really was following, it could have been simply to get a license plate number. We don't know.
