Justice Department Applies Pressure so Banks Refuse Service to Gun Stores

This has been going on for the past several years. Its just more obomunist bullschit, so what else is new.
What's new is this web site trying to claim it's all about gun control. Operation Choke Point has been going on for several years, but it has nothing to do with guns or pressuring banks not to deal with gun dealers. It isn't anything new either. It grew out of another program in 2009 designed to detect fraudulent activity and money laundering in banks. The types of activities identified are the kind that commonly advertise shady or even illegal products or services, often online. They aren't talking about gun stores at all, and if you read the FDIC source linked in the article you'll see that quite plainly.
.
Generally, high-risk transactions occur when the consumer does not have a familiarity with the merchant, or when the quality of the goods and services being sold is uncertain. Activities involving purchases made over the telephone or on the Internet tend to be riskier in that the consumer cannot fully examine or evaluate the product or service purchased. Similarly, the consumer may not be able to verify the identity or legitimacy of the person or organization making the sale.
That isn't a gun store.
.
The Bank Of America incident they mention in the article didn't have anything at all to do with Operation Choke Point or the FDIC.
