I am getting to spend some time down in Florida and I was wondering what do I need to know about carrying a handgun while I am down there, especially transporting in a vehicle and where I can and cannot CC. I know FL is not an open carry state and this is an open carry forum, but I just want to make sure I don't get myself into trouble for not knowing the laws. I hold a VA CHP and I do not want to leave my weapon at home so I need a little help. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

From what I can figure out, your VA permit is honored here in Fla, you don't have to leave it at home. NO OPEN CARRY in Fla, NO carry in bars, Fla has a lot of outdoor bars areas that serve food, I would not carry there either.
Restraunts with a bar areas are no problem as long as you arn't sitting at the bar (i.e. Red Lobster, Stakehouses). Look for No Guns signs on the doors, disney, Sea world don't allow guns in the parks.

Thank you very much, this is exactly the info I was looking for. Vacationing down in the Columbia county area so nothing like taking a break on the surface of the sun...at least I won't be at work

I see what your saying. I saw one of those signs today and I did what I would have done in VA... I took my business somewhere else
