Just Issued Florida Non-Resident CCW

I live in California and travel on my bike cross country every summer. Decided to get the Fla non-resident as it is valid in 38 states.

Had my interview for a California CCW 2 weeks ago. Interview went well and the deputy is recommending I be issued. Still up to the sheriff though, I am not holding my breath as CCW in this dump is hard to come by.

We shall see.

No offense Highline, but I wouldn't move back to the north on a bet! I lived way too many years up there. I'm too old to be cold, and I like having room to move around. I have a 3.5 acre piece of land that cost me 20K. Find me something like that up there. I pay about $1500 a year in property taxes. I pay no state income tax. I can travel 2 hours to the east or west and be at the beach. And I can afford to live down here.

I don't make political statements with my choice of lifestyle. However, if others want to, I say "more power to 'em".

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to get your permit?
Congrats on getting your CCW.

Left my mailbox 3/1/11 and arrived back same place, 5/6/11

Not bad at all considering I waited 4 months for my Cali interview and was told I would hear something from the sheriff one way or other in 4 weeks. Another 2 weeks to go.

Any state that scores an 80 of 100 on the Brady Campaign scoring system is a state I'd personally want nothing to do with. Kissing police ass to exercise a basic right disgusts me.

I think my New Hampshire scores a 6..... but I'd prefer Arizona's 0.

Thanks for the quick answer, I hopefully will get mine about the middle of June.

From what I've found, Florida 6, New Hampshire 9, both pretty good scores.
That's probably why One78Shovel got a CCW from Florida while trying to get one from California 79.
I know Florida issues a lot of non-resident permits, another reason to try Florida.

If the Constitution were actually followed, California would have to give full faith and credit to pistol permits from other states.

And wow.... Florida does better than we do?

We have open carry.

My state also has open carry.
Don't wait for California to follow the Constitution, I agree with you!

I think in Florida you can OC if you're carrying a fishing rod, or something silly like that. Loopholes are funny.

Here in NH we have a law loophole that allows you to hunt with a fully automatic .22 machinegun.... You can also sell switchblades, brass knuckles, and blackjacks, but you have to be hunting or fishing while you sell them for it to not be a crime.

:P

If my memory serves me Correctly (Florida CCW) reciprocity with only 32 States

Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas Colorado Delaware
Georgia Iowa Idaho Indiana Kansas Kentucky
Louisiana Michigan Mississippi Missouri Montana New Hampshire
Nebraska New Mexico North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma
Pennsylvania South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah
Virginia Washington West Virginia Wyoming

With the red ones honoring resident permits only...so if you don't live in FL it does you no good in the red ones.

'Only' 32'?

I can cross the country just about blindfold and not step into red or black states.

As of August 2011 Louisiana will no longer recognize ANY non-resident CCW permits. Just FYI...

Unless they changed the wording....last I saw LA will no longer recognize non-resident FL permits as of Aug 2011...but I have yet to see the legislation to make this possible.

ETA: Seems they have changed the wording...and now it just says a LA resident may not carry on an out of state permit...

Q. Are permits from other states valid in Louisiana? If I have a Louisiana concealed handgun permit, can I carry my concealed handgun in other states?

A. Please refer to the “Reciprocity” section of our web page (http://www.lsp.org/handguns.html) for a list of states that honor Louisiana permits and whose permits are honored in Louisiana. Effective August 15, 2011, Louisiana will no longer allow residents of this state to carry concealed with a non-resident permit issued by another state.
