Hi, I applied for a FL cwp and was denied for a record of a felony in Wyoming from 25 yrs ago, so I contacted the court in Wtoming and they sent me registered copies of disposition not a felony (it was a bad check, that was taken care of ) this was in January I sent in an appeal and recieved my permit in May, Today I go to Shoot Straight in Tampa and they do back gruond check and said it came back bad! How is this possible I have not even had a ticket since I got my permit. Any advice or thoughts on who to contact would be great! Thanks Darrin

Sounds like the record from Wyoming has not been cleared. You best contact a lawyer to research your background and file the necessary paperwork with Wyoming to have the disposition clarified. You might want to ask the folks at Shoot Straight what the background search revealed so you know for sure what to pursue. Good luck with it.

In SC, they don't need to run the background check again, if you have a valid CWP. Just present it at the time of purchase. You should still get the Wyoming matter cleared up, but you might want to see if the same rules apply with purchases and a FL permit for future reference.

Like Seeya said you may have to get a UPIN through a voluntary appeal file.
I was denied on a NICS check a few years ago. I went through an appeal and was approved for the purchase I wanted. Iwas told however that this would happen every time I made a purchase of a firearm, and the nice lady I spoke with in the Department of Justice suggested that I apply for a UPIN. Smooth sailing ever since.
I'm presently awaiting my Utah non res ccw. I sent them my UPIN along with the rest of the application documents. Fingers crossed.

Wrll I called Fl Dept of Licenses, they said I was clean. I called the court clerk in Wyoming, I spoke to the lady that originally sent me the paperwork and she said her end was ok but it just may not be reporting right at the state level. She gave me the number for CDI and I called them on Monday, I explained the situation and she said she would check the records and correct if wrong, she then told me I may need to verify id with prints if I want to see the actual records, the records will not be revealed over the phone due to privacy laws so she took my phone # and said she would call me if she "needed" to send me a request packet. Well no word back so I went to Gander Mountain last night and had them run a background check and Walked out with a new Sig Sauer P250 9mm. Thanks for the knowledge and responses!
