Just fired my new gun today.

I went to the range today with my new Taurus PT-145.

Overall, I am satisfied with it. Being short barreled, it does have a bit of a kick to it. The sights need a slight adjustment as it was shooting 1 1/2" low and left. I had a little trouble with failure to feed after I had put 50 rounds or so through it. I'm hoping that after another 100 or so rounds, the spring should loosen up and take care of that problem.

I noticed that when loading a magazine with the slide forward, it takes a fair amount of pressure to seat it. With the slide back though, it clicks into place firmly and easily.

I put about 150 rounds through it all together, and I'm satisfied with it. This is going to be my primary CC weapon, and I like the way it feels on my hip.

Would I recommend it to someone? Yes, but make sure you get used to it before you trust your life to it.

The increased pressure is because you're pushing the top round against the bottom of the slide, therefore further compressing the magazine spring. try seating an empty mag and a mag with one round loaded, you'll see what i mean.

I have one up for sale.. Nice.. I replaced it with my Kimber Ultra Ten ll.. Almost the same weapon, 10 rounds of 45 in a 3 " barrel.... Kimber is a tad smaller.. Main difference is the Taurus being DA only, while the Kimber is a Sa/Da.... If I pull it, I have to cock it to shoot the 1st. round... BUT, It is accurate out to around 50ft+ for me..!!

I had the same issue with FTF. It smoothed out after about 300 rnds. I would caution you to keep an eye on your ammo too. When firing short barreled large caliber semi autos the extra recoil bangs around the rnds in the clip. The impact can cause the bullet to receed(spelling?) into the case, causeing other feeding issues. Overall I too liked the pistol. Ended up trading it for a Sig. Also, try leaving the clips fully loaded for a while. It will ease some of that "brand new" tension, making it easier to seat the clip with the slide closed. Just my 2 cents.

Be aware that the PT145 mags can allow your rounds to nosedive as the slide strips them out of the mag. Round nose FMJ works fine, but some HP ammo can hang on the bottom of the feed ramp.

Mine has been perfect with FMJ.
