Not a bit surprised by the verdict. Shoot an unarmed woman thru a closed screen door, how else do you think they would decide?

If you shoot through your locked screen door with a 12ga shotgun and blow the head off of an unarmed drunk 19yo girl whose on your porch...........

You need to go to jail, or worse.

Pretty simple.

I guess the jury didn't buy his "story".

I wish they would stop making comparisons to trav on trav off case. Apples to oranges. Now if wafer had been a cop this would have been a "good" shoot.

Good for the jury. Based on reports from all media, biased or otherwise, this was not a defensible self defense shooting. Self defense my ass.

I feel for the surviving relatives of this girl. Nobody should have to die at the hands of a murderer behind a screen door. This case is beyond belief.

I don't understand why he didn't close and lock the door. If she entered he would get the benefit of the doubt.

Good decision. Even with Castle, as long as she was outside, there was no imminent danger of GBH, rape or death. If she had actually breached the door, well, that would have been a different story under Michigan law.
