Joseph Sean McVey: Any news about his charges???

I'm sure everybody remembers the "gunman" found at the Asheville airport wanting to get a glimpse of the Pres from a parking lot nowhere near the flight line? He was charged with going armed to the terror of the public tho he was legally carrying an gun in an open carry holster. he was held at $100,000 bond. and thats the last I heard about him, anybody out there with info? just curious how this panned out for this innocent dumbass...

I just re-read the news reports of that "incident". However, there were no updates past April 2010.

He sounds (in several articles) like someone who needs serious psychiatric "help".

I mean, "come on". Living with mom/dad, driving a car with police sirens/lights with an invalid driver's license, notes inside the car about firing a rifle without scope, parking near a gate adjacent to where AF#1 is going to park, monitoring police frequencies on a scanner, carrying a side arm, and saying he wanted to "see" the President.

Yeah Buddy! That's sounds like a solid citizen to me...NOT!

whoa, what articles did you read? yes I do think this kid is way too over zealous, but not entirely wacko. he was visiting his mom in Asheville from Ohio where he has his CCW. he assists his local police dept during accidents where he directs traffic, hence the lights and sirens and the police radios. he was in a public parking lot near the airport so carrying a firearm openly is ok. he said he wanted "see" as in with his two eyes look at the president and AF1, thats still legal right? besides AF1 was already in the air. anybody ever bought a new scope before? usually inside the box is a lil booklet or a small sheet of paper with directions to sight in the scope at 100, 200, 500yrds. that is what the media is calling "notes" with scope formulas. I even read 1 article that said it was formulas for a SNIPER RIFLE. remember, no scope or rifle was found.

we don't know the truth of what happened that day, we know what the liberal media has written/said. I see an over zealous kid that didnt think this through and was in the wrong spot at the wrong time. I dont think he was planning on causing any harm. should he have been put in jail? no. should he lose his CCW? maybe yeah, at least for a few years he isnt mature enough to handle the responsibilities of it yet.

but we all need to be careful on what we say or do. technically this kid broke no laws. and he was wrongfully charged with going armed to the terror. that laws specifically states one must be on major highways/roadways. walking around a parking lot with a holstered gun on your hip is not a crime. all the media needed to hear was man with gun near the president and this kid became a crazy right-winger tea partier racist who wanted to kill the president. all it takes is one mistake, one moment of absent mind to be in a similar situation as this kid. especially the way the liberals and their media are going after gun rights, anyone of us could be next.

OK, maybe just "mostly" wacko.

Wanna play the "characterization" innuendo game, sailor? I'll start. Why doesn't he have a real job? What's the "local police dept." got to say about him? Doing "nothing illegal?"

This kinda reminds me of the guy with the orange AK in the park, doing "nothing illegal." Where you cross the lines between legal, illegal and stupid can get kinda blurry sometimes. Rational people normally stay clear to one side.

i didnt say what he did wasnt stupid. and i did say he shouldnt have a CCW right now due to his imaturity and his over zealousness. but the main difference between him and that guy with the orange ak is this wasnt trying to make a statement. the guy with the ak in the parks is trying to piss someone off and make a grand statement. I dont agree with either person's choices, but that kid didnt deserve what happened to him
