job opportunity for instructors

What's the general opinion on Front Sight these days? I've never been I just don't like the junk mail I get from them constantly.

I like their training, I am a life member and have been. Was going to sign on for a position, didn't quite make it to their standards, but being it was the first time I had ever been, I was new to their style of doing things. No problem, was invited to take a class and go through the Instructor class again, and would have made it through. Only problem I have is that I wouldn't be able to get there very often, and it wasn't feesable because of that. They are in LasVegas and I live in Phoenix. Would cost more to work than I would make.

I saw that gimmick awhile ago so I figured I give it a shot and contact them. Seems that you have to pay to take their instructor course then you are eligible to be "considered" for a position as one of their instructors should one ever become available. I too found the relentless barrage of emails to be annoying. Finally blocked them.

No thanks. I also looked into teaching at FS before I learned more about it and it's owner. Like Rick said you have to pay for the privilege of attending one of their instructor schools and then possibly be selected as a part time instructor. If you are hired you must agree that while under contract you may not teach any where else and when the contract is terminated there is non compete clause for 3-5 years (I can't remember exactly).
All this for a part time instructor position? No thanks!

The non-compete was the clincher for me as I was invited to take come down last year to take the Instructor Course/Program.

Its actually a city we are considering operating in as we do in many States across the Country and I thought it would be great to get some additional training to add to the tool box and help out part time.

To give up my "part time hours/full time pay" business that I own to make 1/100th of the income it is obviously not feasible to even consider it.

It would however been pretty cool to have access to a larger arsenal to train with myself for ongoing training likely without much cost to do so...I would actually consider volunteering for that kind of compensation vs doing it pt/ft and making less then working my own company.

Ah well...can't please every body and I suppose if you get trained there and work a year you could always move to another state with likely no issue (especially right to work states) in the non-compete clause.

I think Front Site is missing out on some great Instructors but we always have to remember that aside from all the "positivity" mentioned in the video in what it takes to become one...there BUSINESS model is designed for strict continuity which can actually hinder PROGRESS in developing programs further.

Basically stating they have perfected everything and that everyone teaches the same way regardless of any personalized differences that make each Instructor unique.

All large companies have a goal to keep uniformity and ensure they do not have to many "super stars" that would then be able to run off and create competition...create a system that is robotic like to ensure that EVERYONE is replaceable is sound business sense.
