While shopping for a gift for the wife, I noticed a 30.06 sign posted on the entrance to the front door. For those of you not familiar with Texas gun laws, a 30.06 sign is a legal posting that prevents a concealed handgun license holder from entering a location while carrying a handgun. I sent an email to Jared's about same and received the following response:
Dear Sir,
I would like to respond to your e-mail concerning the Firearms/Weapons policy posted at our Humble, TX location.
Even though many states have laws permitting residents to carry concealed weapons and firearms, private employers have the right to ban weapons and prohibit persons with weapons from entering the premises. For the safety and security of our customers and store employees Jared has made the decision to ban weapons and anyone possessing them from entering the store.
Sincerely,

With that, I responded with the following:
Kathy,
Thank you for your response. As stated in your response, you do indeed have that right. You contradict yourself when you state "for the safety and security of your customers and store employees". I say this because evidently you have not spoken to ANY of the employees that worked at the jewelry stores that have just recently had smash and grab robberies during broad daylight. I believe that if you would talk to them, they would refute your "safety and security" statement. I have often wondered how your security guard feels knowing that he is the ONLY person in that store that can legally carry a firearm should an event occur.
Since I honor your right to prevent legal Texas concealed handgun license holders from carrying in your stores, you must also honor my right to disagree with you. That being said, I am going to do my best to get both your policy and your response to my initial email on my local Houston radio station and on the internet forums in the effort to stop patronizing your stores until your policy is reversed. Or would you also want to take away my 1st amendment right along with my second?
Regards
I will follow up with any other responses I might receive from Jareds.
