IWB with an undershirt...

I just got my CWL and I am still waiting on my holster. I ordered an IWB from Old Faithful.
After 20 years in the Navy and wearing undershirts with my uniform everyday I have gotten used to them and feel more comfortable wearing one.

My questions are; Does anyone else wear an undershirt and use an IWB holster?
Does it really make a difference not being directly against your skin?
Does the holster being between two shirts effect your draw?
Does the holster slide or move around?

Thanks

Really makes no difference. I wear an undershirt everyday while working but not after and I have never noticed any kind of difference. Btw, old faithful holsters are great for the hybrid style holsters, I own 2 of them that I used for summer carry.

I've got a remora holster for my XDs and prefer to wear an undershirt. Makes and already comfortable carry even more comfortable. Retention is great also. Remoras stay in place regardless of the undershirt.

Huge difference for me. I left the house in a hurry last week and just threw my Old Faithful holster on with no undershirt and regretted it after about 5 minutes. It wasn't necessilary the holster but the stipling on the grip of the gun. I dont know if it really makes a difference but I think an undershirt also helps to keep the oils from your skin off of your firearm as the grip does touch your body. Not a big deal for a polymer frame but a steel frame could show signs of corrosion after a lot of wear.

I found the leather and the metal clips most annoying without a shirt but after paying the outrageous of a whopping $1.99 at Hobby Lobby for some self adhesive has made it so comfortable I don't even notice it.

The one thing that I'm constantly conscious of is the length of my finger nails as if you're in a stressful situation and you've got nails, you could gouge or even grab yourself. It all comes down to good grooming but when you're very busy, you tend to forget and then on a daily practice, you realize with a quickness that it's time to cut.

Always.
I think so.
No.
No.

I use an IWB (Crossbreed Supertuck) most often as my CC holster. I almost always wear an undershirt. When it's hot out I sweat, an undershirt helps keep that off my firearm and keeps me more comfortable.

Holster does not move around.

No effect on the draw...unless undershirt has come untucked. Then there can conceivably be some loose cloth that your fingers can partially grab as you go to grip your firearm on the draw. I have only ever encountered this during dry or live fire practice where I am conducting multiple draws. After 10-15 draws I frequently find that I have either partially or fully untucked my undershirt on my strong side. If I have tucked in my outer shirt as well, then this tends to occur after 8-10 draws. I have never actually hung up on my draw during practice due to this, but I recognize that it could happen. Undershirts with longer tails can help you stay tucked in throughout the day and most activities.

If you have a problem with your undershirt coming up tucked then just tuck it in your undies. That seems to keep the shirt more secure and almost never comes untucked... for me anyways.

Very true. I carry a S&W MP 340 .357 on my ankle as a BUG and the grip screw on the stock grip presses right up against my leg. After only a few days of hot summer work the grip screw had all but completely rusted out. It's for this very reason I always wear an undershirt when carrying a steel frame primary. It won't stop the problem if you work in construction on 100 degree days (like I used too) but it definitely helps.

I have the Crossbreed Supertuck with the comfort cut, so very little of the firearm is exposed to my skin when I carry without an undershirt. There could be a difference in comfort depending on if you have a combat style cut versus comfort style cut.

Hope you like your Old Faithful. I bought the Stage 3 and it works pretty good. You may want to an undershirt for the first few days that you wear the holster because the T-Clips can start to back out and get you until they are fully tightened and worn in. Also, if you got the horse hide leather, the rough side is pretty rough. After just a couple of days, I found I could wear my rig under a T-Shirt with no comfort issues.

This is a good question, this will be my first summer on carry so right now I carry IWB but I have a tuck in my t-shirt and another shirt on the outside covering it so when the summer come and when I would have the outside shirt covering it but I will see this summer.

Always wear a undershirt thanks to the Army just got used to it.

I have a CrossBreed that is my daily IWB the only trouble I have with it is getting in and out of my truck all the time makes it ride up a little but never enough to get in the way or even let the holster touch skin really.

Thanks warthog97...I am looking forward to my new holsters. I ordered the Stage 2 to save some money plus I enjoy putting things together. The only downside is they won't be shipped until sometime between March 2nd and 30th and I ordered them three weeks ago.
