I took my class/test. I have my paperwork. But now im moving to NC at the end of the month. So if i send it in now. It wont come untill after i move. Will i have to take the test again and pay again in NC? Or will my paper work still be ok if i turn it in once i move? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Florida. I have all my paperwork. But i will be out of this state as of april first so i dont even know whete it would be sent or how it would work

If you have the paperwork from the concealed weapons class, hold onto it until you move to NC.
Then send it in to apply for a Florida NON-resident permit.
NC honors the Florida permit.

How long is that good for? And since i will be staying in NC for good, how would i get my NC concealed permit after i obtain a FL non resident permit

There is one other caveat about carrying concealed in NC vs. FL.
In NC you must inform a law enforcement officer immediately.
The permit holder must carry the permit, together with valid identification, whenever carrying a concealed handgun, and is required to disclose to any law enforcement officer who addresses or approaches the permit holder that he or she is a permit holder and is carrying a concealed handgun.

So take my paperwork with me, should i just get fingerprinted onceni get there too? And then send it all in, pay the fee and my non resident permit is good for 7 years. Very good to know. Thanks for the added info as well. Any particularly silly or outlandish laws in NC as far as carrying or self defense go that i should know about? I will research as well but just curious. Any benefits of concealed carry inNC that FL might not have?

One of the things you will not be able to do in NC with your FLorida CCW is to purchase a gun without a North Carolina Purchase permit. With a NC CHP you dont need a purchase permit each time you want to purchase a hand gun. My recommendation is after you get to NC stop into the Sheriff's office and ask the easiest way to get a NC CHP.

You are better off with a NC permit. You will be good to carry in more states. Get the FL non-resident, then get the NC resident when you move here. Pretty sure you have to wait 30 before applying and then it could take up to 90 before you get the permit. In the meantime, you can carry with the FL permit. If you are in the southern part of the state, you can't cross into SC and be legal with the FL permit. So if you move to Charlotte for instance, be careful.

Under the new legislation, NC Sherrifs are are required to respond to permit applications within 45 days.

I will be moving there april 1st. And im just hesitant about sending the 117$ for a FL non resident permit, just to turn around and send another 100+$ for a NC permit plus take the class in NC. I will be moving to the area surrounding seymour johnson AFB. Goldsboro, NC. Ive been told i can take the class on base for 55$. Maybe ill just suck up the fact that i blew 75$ on the class in FL and just start over fresh in NC.

Before you take the class again, check the NC statute. Some states accept training from other states. When my daughter moved to Colorado, they said her SC training was good as long as it had been taught by a military, law enforcement or NRA certified instructor within the last three years. Maybe you did not blow you $75.

I looked at this and I think if you are military you may be able to get a permit easier using the Arizona/ Utah non-resident..
BUT that does not give you right to buy in NC..

From my limited research I believe you have to take a NC course...
Personally I have been thinking about taking the classes to teach classes...

We will see....

Use the training you just took to get an AZ permit for $60. You have to be a NC resident 30 days before you can apply for the NC permit so use that time to take the NC course, if the course you already took wont work. Then get the NC permit .

There shouldn't be an issue with NC accepting your NRA cert from FL. The NRA is the NRA. In NC you need purchase permits from the Sheriff's Dept every time you purchase a gun unless you have your permit, the FL one won't work for that. If you live in NC, get an NC permit.
