Issue with my P226

So I noticed this issue recently (not really sure how long it has been happening), when firing in single action, I noticed what felt like a gritty pull, not the usual crisp single action, and working a little more carefully, I found that there is a point where the sear releases, but the hammer doesn't fall, instead I can release the trigger and the weapon de-cocks along with the trigger, it's a significant enough 'shelf' that I can do this every time feeling 2 separate points of release. This is a little alarming and though it still functions normally if I continue to pull the trigger back, it makes for a very odd and bad-feeling trigger pull, I've never really taken apart the trigger workings of the sig (or any other semi-auto handgun) so I wouldn't know what to look for that could be causing it. Though I did take the slide off and notice if I push down slightly on the trigger bar, that it gives me the nice crisp single action release I'm used to, but it doesn't function in double action with it pressed down like that. Any ideas? Could it be something simple or should I have a gunsmith take a look at it?

If you already gave it a good cleaning it could be some odd ball wear and tare issue. I would not suggest taking apart trigger mechanism. If you do get it back together and it is still not right a gunsmith will have a harder time diagnosing problem. First get a can of brake cleaner. Put the red tube on and spray the crap out of all the trigger Assembly you can. I usually cover as much of the gun as possible (tape off etc.) especially the area in question. Who knows what the problem is. May have gotten some grit in it, or a small part broke off. Make sure you do this where you can retrieve whatever may fall out. Get some Kroil Oil (shits great and a lot of people don't know about it- Penetrating-Lubricating Oils) and put the red tube on can. Now spray in areas you previously hit with the brake (You can also use carb cleaner) cleaner. Kroil is the oil that creeps (Look at there site for info) so leave it be. I'd hang the lower end of gun in a way that will let oil run off. Give it a day or so and wipe it down. Grease the rails lightly and put back together and see what happens.
