Is This Someone's Rights or a Special Kind Of Stupid?

Iowa grants gun permits to the blind

Ran into this old story when i was looking at Iowa gun laws.

Some Iowa sheriffs say yes to this, some say no. My state law says no. I would as an instructor say no.

Which side would you support? CC for blind people? How about blind intoxicated people on prescription drugs for advanced Parkinson's disease? Where do we as 2nd Amendment supporters draw the line?

1. What's the matter, wasn't this discussion enough already?

2. There should be no government permission required to carry a firearm in the first place. Having to obtain the government's permission to exercise the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms goes completely 100% against the very reason why the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms.

4. Again...just like always....where is the danger to the public in states like Washington that have no visual requirement to carry a firearm? Where is the blood running in the streets?

Way too many people in this country want to limit the 2nd Amendment to only those THEY judge to be worthy.

I draw the line at individual liberty. Doesn't surprise me the N R A wants gun control, they have wanted that since their very inception.

Yes, the constitution recognizes blind people.

Yes, the op is a special kind of stupid.

There you go Navy, fixed it for ya.....

Sometimes I do have to look at the top and make sure I didn't get into MDA or the Brady Bunch forums by mistake. It's disturbing to see the number of members on this forum that think that a government permission slip to carry a firearm is even acceptable to begin with...but then to also come up with every reason they can to deny the permit....

Here are two extreme views on guns for the blind. It is interesting to note, the NRA (not N R A) has back peddled away from their pro guns for the blind video, and removed it from their official web site.

.
My opinion, all ducks should be lined up in a row, before a gun is fired, for any reason. Not sure of a backstop, do not fire. Not sure of your target, do not fire. Not sure of anything, pertinent to shooting a gun, do not fire. As with most things, the truth, is somewhere in the middle, not laying out to some far extreme.

Instead of an ADT security sign he can put up one that reads WARNING! BLIND MAN HAS GUN enter at own risk! Might even put one up myself!

Where do we draw the line? We draw it at the point where a disadvantaged blind person can't reach into her nightstand and shoot the bastard about to rape her in her own bed. We need to draw the line where others impose their own restriction on her ability to defend her life. Let them mind their own business or stand guard for her.

My wife has a friend from childhood who's blind. She has a pretty successful online clothing store. She's an absolutely gorgeous blonde, dressed, styled and made-up beautifully every day. Who wants to call her and tell her since the rape is inevitable just lay back and enjoy it.

I went to You Tube, as as usual, the fine folks have answered us, on gun usage, and the blind. I guess it is OK to shoot your gun in public if you are blind, but it may piss off some folks.

Based on some of the shooting I have seen recently on the range shooting blind is already going on. With mixed results.
