Is juvenile Truancy grounds for denial on an LTC-A in MA?

Hello Everyone, I just got back from my interview at the local police station. For question number 4 it states "Have you ever been arrested or appeared in court as the defendant for a criminal offense" I answer no. But upon my interview at the police station they found 1 instance of probate court from when I was in middle school which I had forgotten about that was for truancy because I had missed many days of school that year.

I believe I still answered question 4 truthfully as Truancy is not a criminal offense by definition. I have never been in a cell, in cuffs or been a defendant of any offense as an adult and my only hiccup on my record is a truancy matter in probate court from over 10 years ago. They can't possibly deny me for that reason and if they can I have grounds to appeal this right? Thank you for any help.

I assume they are looking for misdemeanors and felonies which truancy is neither but I am not certain.

Good luck. I would imagine they are looking for ANY reason to deny the license.

The licensing authority may deny the application or renewal of a license to carry, or suspend or revoke a license issued under this section if, in a reasonable exercise of discretion, the licensing authority determines that the applicant or licensee is unsuitable to be issued or to continue to hold a license to carry. A determination of unsuitability shall be based on: (i) reliable and credible information that the applicant or licensee has exhibited or engaged in behavior that suggests that, if issued a license, the applicant or licensee may create a risk to public safety; or (ii) existing factors that suggest that, if issued a license, the applicant or licensee may create a risk to public safety. Upon denial of an application or renewal of a license based on a determination of unsuitability, the licensing authority shall notify the applicant in writing setting forth the specific reasons for the determination in accordance with paragraph (e). Upon revoking or suspending a license based on a determination of unsuitability, the licensing authority shall notify the holder of a license in writing setting forth the specific reasons for the determination in accordance with paragraph (f). The determination of unsuitability shall be subject to judicial review under said paragraph (f).

Unfortunately, I know a bit about this state. The real issue here, besides the state being activist anti 2A, is the licensing authority is the COP for the individual town or city. There are 351 towns/cities in the state. This can either be very good news or not so good depending on where you live.

I am a friend of a MA firearms instructor and he constantly updates his town COP's as they come and go. They are either green, yellow, or red when he advises clients. Most 100% issue to those that meet the usual wickets, some issue to qualified applicants simply to avoid legal pushback which they lose almost every time, and a small few just look for a no and hope the declined applicant doesn't get legal assistance.

Take a look at the link, call GOAL in MA and get their advice, and push back with an appeal if you know they are denying your rights unjustly. Oh, when you win, never speed in that town, don't miss a stop sign, don't follow too closely, or commit any misdemeanor in YOUR town. Good luck.
