Is it really Christmas?

I just don't really feel that Christmas Spirit that I once felt. At church this past Sunday, I did have the Holy Spirit fill me with joy but I still fell a bla to the season. I don't know if it's because of this continue slide into communism? If it's because of the elections or just the economy. I mention the economy because of our normal annual giving is for the most part done during this time of year. NOTHING to do with taxes. But we just won't have the resources to help as we did in the past. I just have this doldrum that I can't seem to shake. I have just landed a new job with another interview tomorrow evening that would almost double this new jobs salary. Yet still, just don't feel the Spirit. Granted, I AM GRATFUL for what the Good Lord has bestowed upon me. But just having some issues of malaise concerning Christmas this year. Am I the only one?

I too find myself in a down mood and times. However, looking to the Word every single morning I find the true Christ-mas spirit. It helps to have a Christian wife and family. Just living where I do is a daily blessing to us. Blessed that we have more than one pair of shoes, food in the pantry, gas in the vehicles, healthy kids and grandkids and for the time being and as long as we have breath the freedom to complain and believe as we wish. Merry Christ-X. Happy New Year.

I'm not saying I do not have gratitude and appreciation for what I've be blessed with. I just don't feel the love and warmth I usually feel this time of year. Maybe it's just me.
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year for you and yours as well.

I really felt down for awhile after the elections. But, then I realized that I don't have anything to really be down about because Jesus is coming real soon. I've basically taken the attitude that God is going to allow the world to self destruct. But, as Christians, we will be protected in the end.

Sure, we may have some difficult times ahead. However, the hardships we will face will be as NOTHING; compared to what is going to happen to the rest of the world. (Including & perhaps "especially" for those who cursed God and cheered for abortions within our own government.)

So, REJOICE my friend. I say REJOICE because your name in written in the Lambs Book of LIFE!

Christmas is exhausting. Take a break, it's ok. Just let your family know that you're "not feeling it", and tune out for once. Most of us have been there, and if it hasn't happened yet, it will. You know the reason for the season, and that is all that matters. Turn off the television news, quit reading the newspaper headlines, stop listening to Hannity and Rush until Christmas is over. But it is important to talk to your family and loved ones if you are feeling unusually depressed. Let them know.

It's easy to get distracted. Christmas traditions (I'll define them as the 'good' ones!) sometimes help people get some of that Christmas focus back. I try to think of some of the things I did as a kid that I liked and figure out ways to try to duplicate those things. As I'm writing this I recall driving and seeing lots of Christmas lights, or driving through Christmas light displays. Sometimes it can just be something simple to get my head out of the daily grind.

AMEN! Everything happening is according to God's plan for this Last Generation and everything is right on schedule. As Christians we don't need any protection, the Lord has prepared for our escape prior to Matthew 24:21.."For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be". How close are we to the Rapture? Israel is God's Prophetic Timepiece, keep your eyes on the Middle East, the worse it gets the closer we are. :dance3:

After the election I thought about being more like the 51%. Stop watching the news. Stop checking the Internet. Go about my day wondering about how I can gratify myself.
Planning my day so I can be seen holding a Star buck's Cup. Stop worrying about my family and my grand kids future. I thought about signing up with some music download company, loading up on downloaded songs and sticking ear bud into my head and just listening to music all day. Watching the Daily Show for my news, and the gay channels to update by cloths so I can fit in with the crowd. Ending my association with Second Amendment Advocates, and doing what the rest of America is doing.
Then deer season started and I spent a lot of time alone in the woods. It was like a retreat.
I became invigorated again and realized that I am being tested.
As long as I can keep my faith, and maintain my relationship with Christ, the Holy Spirit will always be there for me.
My dad had the benefit of an 8mm camera and all of the Holiday films started with my brothers and sisters coming home from church.
My parents did an excellent job in making sure that before we enjoyed the secular parts of Christmas and Easter, we did so after observing the real reasons for the events.
So I say I hope that you have a Blessed and Joyous Christmas filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Remembering that your actions will be observed by little people who will remember what they see and hear long into the future.

I'm there with you brother. With me, it is depression from the election and what that means, and really kind of the same thing at work, some changes are in the works that scares me the same way that the changes in the country that are in the works.

Good suggestions given. I think that I am too depressed to take any of them lol.

I count my blessings daily, all year round. I trust in God, but being human, that doesn't stop me from being overwhelmed by uncertainty.

Wish I had a timer to shut my brain down occasionally.

fstroupe, please don't be offended, but if you "trust in God" as you say, how then can you be overwhelmed by uncertainty??? God is not the author of confusion, Satan is. God's Word & Promises are absolute truth, to believe otherwise is doubt, and doubting God is a sin in itself. Personally, the most stupid question I've ever been asked is, "do I TRUST God"? Don't get caught up in the cares of this world, instead just be aware of current global events and know that the worse things get, especially in the Middle East, praise the Lord and rejoice knowing we are that much closer to the Rapture. Being a Christian living in these Final Days of this Last Generation, and knowing that we are among the only Christians throughout all history that will never experience death is what overwhelms me. Cheer up, everything is going to get a lot worse real fast for THOSE OF THIS WORLD. However, being Christians WE ARE IN THIS WORLD, NOT OF THIS WORLD. Our citizenship is in Heaven. We are the Bride of Christ, and The Bride of Christ is not meant for the wrath of God, but instead, the wedding feast. Christ warned us not to be "deceived" and instructed us to "fear not". Believe God, experience "His Peace" and cheer up. Time has never been shorter. :victory::dance3:

I don't necessarily believe that just because one struggles with "uncertainty" from time to time, it means that he doesn't TRUST if God.

I think we all get depressed and have periods of uncertainty in our life at one time or another. I used to be in the ministry and I saw God work miracles of all kinds. When I was given a death sentence by doctors 11 years ago I KNEW that God would deliver me. But, even though I'm still alive, I lost my business and almost lost my wife because of all the hardship we've been through.

I am uncertain of what lies in my future concerning a career and/or ministry. But, "uncertainty" does NOT mean I don't have FAITH! Being depressed or concerned doesn't mean I don't have faith. I have FULL faith & assurance that God will deliver me though any & all circumstances that the enemy means for harm.

I also believe that God seeks to reveal himself to us and he desires for us to know where we are in our walk of faith. God teaches us and perfects our faith through the trials & tribulations of life. So, whenever I find myself being tested, I pray for God's guidance & wisdom to get me through. Sometimes HIS guidance is for me to trust & be patient. Other times, it is to declare victory & resist!

A little preview of the Rapture. When we least expect it. Enjoy.

No offense taken.

Ringo, I know that what you say is true. But even Jesus Christ himself expressed some apprehension during his last few hours in human form.
