IN New York the answer is simple. YES. for a long gun, NO.
And that is what they are talking about in the Alleged "Gun Show Loophole"
If you bring it in yourself, you would be in possession of an non-registered handgun.
Once the NY FFL has it, take your permit downtown and have the gun added to your license.
Give the coupon to the FFL and take your gun home.

Necessary, No. What is the purpose of the FFL? Let me answer. To control those unlawful people who shouldn't be allowed guns, away from guns. Does it work?

In my opinion, the FFL should be abolished, shut down, closed forever. The rights of felons, after serving their time, including probation, all rights should be restored. Second conviction, hang-em high. done.

In the few remaining Free Zones in the Peoples Demokratik States of Amerika, you do not. Just like you don't need to warrant that your second-hand car meets all of the EPA standards to sell it. Just like you don't have to collect sales taxes when you sell your old TV at a yard sale.

But this could change soon, if we are not vigilant...

Totally disagree. I think that if you are charged with a felony and convicted by a jury, "ALL" your rights should be removed for life. No voting, guns, social security, medicare, unemployment, nothing. You snubbed society, society can snub you.

Even If its not required per state laws, it's a good idea to keep a paper trail when selling a firearm. If buying then its not your responsibility.

Totally agree. When you hold those responsible to the acts they committed then there might be a understanding of the ramifacation of their actions. Understand that most criminals don't give a rats back side on the ramifications but the penalties should be the same no less.
I would add that IF we were to castrate all sex offenders upon conviction and or death penalty for child molesters under the age 14 we would have less violators to deal with. JMHO!

I sold my G26 a few months ago to someone a few counties away. We did not have to use a FFL. I wrote him a receipt with my address, permit number, and the typical firearm info that you get from a store. Gun make, model, serial number, caliber, etc. He put half down and brought the receipt to his pistol permit department at the sheriffs office. After his waiting process (less than 2 weeks) they gave him a voucher. We then met and he paid the rest, gave me the voucher, and I gave him the amended receipt saying paid in full. I then brought all of that information to my pistol permit department with the voucher and rest of the paperwork. They amended my permit and all was well. No FFl.

What state? In state, I assume you mean in the same state you are a resident?

Washington resident to Washington resident: No.
Oregon resident to Oregon resident: No.

so in your eyes, If a person makes a mastake he or she is dead for life. no chance of ever doing anything good, so should we just kill that person ??? where is your heart of forgiveness ???? you have never made a mastake....

Forgiveness was bludgeoned out of me years ago by far too many second chances. And yes, I have made mistakes, but never of the caliber or consequence that our society labels as felonious. Those that have "made a mistake" as you put it, in almost all instances knew the consequences before committing the crime. And believe me, I see a plethora of societal abuse daily. The examples of convicted felones "turning their lives around" are far to few compared to the alternative.
