iphone or droid

Contract is up in January and currently I have a 1st generation Droid by Motorola and the newer ones are huge so I am considering the iPhone 4S. What is your choice?

Iphone if you want an easy smartphone that works and works good.

Android if you like to make it your own and plan to root it and customize it in every possible way. Android is open source and Apple refuses to let you get the full function out of your device.

I've owned 4 different android phones from every era of their growth. I've played with dozens of iphones. They are great devices, I just hate that Apple keeps a ball and chain on your device. 400-500 bucks for the device out right and I can't make it how I want? Screw that.

Android is my vote.

Apple is nice, if you just want to buy it and use it. If you use other apple products as well. I don't like iTunes and don't use a Mac...and I like to mess around with my phone. All the iPhones my family has ever bought have been returned.

As far as huge...I didn't know if my first 4.3 in screen was going to be too big...I will never go back now...its too awesome

I work in IT so I need something that works and is configurable. So I have an Android powered phone. A few of my colleagues had iPhones and got rid of them because of issues with making them work on a business network. I am no fan of apple so my opinion is most likely biased.

Just ordered my iPhone 4s this afternoon. Seems they're out of stock everywhere so I'll have to wait a few days for it! Battery life is way better with the iPhone, I had a Droid Eris when they came out, and I couldn'd handle the 5 hour battery life when I was out in the field.

Just got an iPhone 4 after I dropped & broke my Htc evo 4g's screen. After one day I Miss the droid. Bigger screen, customizable etc etc pretty much all that's been said above. Don't get me wrong iPhone works great but with the droid I thought it was like a mini lap top. iPhone's Just to me is the step between a blackberry & the android platform

I haven't used too many Android phones. I picked up a 3GS a couple months after they came out and was pretty content with that, skipped the 4 and did a momentary upgrade to an HTC Inspire. That was an awful idea so I returned it and waited it out for the 4S. I am completely content with it. Daughter has a 3GS and wife has a 4 so everything works nicely together, makes updating things incredibly easy too.
The thing is that there are SO MANY android phones that you cant really just say "iphone or android". Some instances of an android based phone are going to be awful while others will be fantastic.

Sounds like the old Ford/Chevy thing. My car is better than your car. I have the first generation Android Motorola X with a 4.3 screen, and the size of the "phone" is just fine. Sometimes I wish the screen was a little bit bigger though. I was lucky enough to get unlimited internet access before Verizon cancelled the program, and for that reason, I spend way to much time on the internet. The 4.3 inch screen gets a little small if you spend to much time staring at it. Flip a coin.

As a free thinking person who likes to think of things that they buy as his and should be able to do with it as he pleases, DROID.

I'm not the OP, but this brings another question that I have been mauling over for a while...

Which Droid phone seems to be the most reliable?

Way more you can do with an android. Don't you iPhone guys have to pay for all your apps?

I've been using a rooted Samsung Galaxy S for about a year and a half now that I also flashed to the cricket network(unlimited data). Pure bliss, its like a little laptop.

I am a technical guy but, more old school I'm in the engineering world but, analog and RF (radio frequency). I do like computers and the smart phones but honestly I am clueless. I just want a phone that can do most things like navigation; quick internet checks things like that. The RAZR and Bionic look like really nice phones and I don't doubt you can do more with them than with the iPhone but, by the time I figured it out how to use all the features it'll be time for my next upgrade. I also heard from one of the reviews comparing the two that the iPhone is more secure because they keep it in the apple family things like there apps. Thanks for all the responses.
