IONIA -- To the little boy's mother, it was just a 6-year-old boy playing around.

But when Mason Jammer, a kindergarten student at Jefferson Elementary in Ionia, curled his fist into the shape of a gun Wednesday and pointed it at another student, school officials said it was no laughing matter.

They suspended Mason until Friday, saying the behavior made other students uncomfortable, said Erin Jammer, Mason's mother.

School officials allege Mason had displayed this kind of behavior for several months, despite numerous warnings.

"I do think it's too harsh for a six-year-old," said Jammer, who was previously warned that if Mason continued the practice he would be suspended. "He's six and he just likes to play."

Jammer says her son isn't violent, and there are other, more effective ways of teaching him not to make a gun with his hand.

"Maybe what you could do is take his recess away," suggested Jammer, adding her son doesn't have toy guns at home.

"He's only six and he doesn't understand any of this."

Schools in general are really starting to upset me.:angry: Who do they think they are sometimes?? A few years back when my youngest daughter was in 6th grade she wore my "Glock Shooting Sports" hat for a scheduled "hat day" the school had one Friday. She was told she couldn’t wear it and they made her take it off. I had to pick the hat up from the teacher after school that day. Grrrrrr!!! :angry:

It was just a hat. It didn’t even have a picture of a gun on it. Just the wording, "Glock Shooting Sports" on the front…….

The liberal sheep never stop amazing me with their stupidity.

Gone definitely are the days of guns in your gun racks, and "Deer Days" off of school during hunting season when you cant even make a gun shape with your hand! And six years old to boot... I know when my kids were six they wouldn't even understand what is happening to them. They would have been ecstatic to have a few extra days off of school.

Either way this is not teaching children anything, it is more about sending an anti-gun or "zero-tolerance" statement. Teachers these days aren't very creative.

I read these boards and I see Obama did this, or Congress did that and all the bull crap expelled about it, but other than write a few letters and vote every four years there is REALLY very little you can do about it.

BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THINGS!!! By becoming active at the LOCAL level. Nearly every school in the country is run by a SCHOOL BOARD and YOU elect those people. Decisions on HOW OUR CHILDREN ARE TAUGHT are not made by Obama or Congress, they are made by your school board and YOU can control them because when election comes down to a few hundred votes instead of a few hundred thousand YOUR VOTE REALLY COUNTS!

County commissions (or whatever they are called in your area) are also great local targets. It is the county commission that influences the state legislators and it is the state legislatures that influence congress and it is congress that actually controls what the almighty administration does.

POWER is supposed to FLOW UPWARD in this county.

Stop just posting carp on bulletin boards about how much you hate Obama and how our country is falling apart ... TAKE IT BACK!

Get active locally and VOTE THE BASTARDS OUT!

I am guessing this was a public school. They have all gone certifiably insane. My first suggestion if at all possible would be take the kid out of the asylum and home school him. The public school system is only going to get worse.

+1. No way would I let a "gov't school" get their hands on my kids these days. I don't wish to insult anyone whose kids are in public schools but you must know what you are up against (no God, political correctness, indoctrination). If/when I become a grandparent, I will assist my kids in keeping their kids out of the reach of these freakin' lunatics.

JJ I would also add that I am in no way saying that there are not some good teachers in the school system. I have known a number of very conservative, Christian teachers, a number of whom have gone to my church. The problem is that there are also a lot of teachers that have attended liberal colleges and are brainwashed by the liberal socialistic system. Add to that the fact that the NEA has so much control over the public education system and the teachers it is next to impossible for the good teachers to be able to make much of a difference. The public education system has become and indoctrination tool for the Marxist, NWO elite.

As / Great Schools, The state adverage scores for Mich is 77%. Poor at best, Yet Detroit, A Democratic Strong hold, is 47% (Dependeing in grade level) AND Half of these kids can not read.

The school teachers have had their hands tied and cannot teach anything of importance to the kids now. They must teach to the lesson plan and to pass the standard test. The parents will not teach the kids proper behavior at home and then when the teachers try to correct them, the parents go ballistic and you can't correct my child.

So don't put all of the blame on the schools and teachers. The blame goes directly back to the poor excuse of a parent they have. The other problem is that people in general let the bleeding hearts have their way and get all sorts of PC crud rammed down our collective throats and passed into law.

The way to combat this is to get out and vote and get rid of the bleeding hearts in government and to make you voice as loud as the bleeding hearts. If you aren't happy, let people know, but in a reasonable manner. It can be done and needs to be done.

+1. And as I said don't look for them to get any better. The goal is to dumb down the kids and destroy their allegiance to God, family and country, Only then can they be productive citizens in their one world government don't you know.

My wife was a teacher and said ...no more. She said she was the only one that cared....the parents certainly did not and you have to be so careful that you are PC.

We were discussing with some friends, the fact that either we are getting more cynical or the people of this country are getting dumber. There are getting dumber.

I agree that there are good, concerned teachers throughout the system, they're the ones who have to keep their mouths shut and eyes closed in fear of being blackballed. Apply what you said to the judicial system, the media, and Washington D.C. as well. If anyone has ever wondered where all of the hippies and extreme radicals of the sixties went, now you know. You say "severely corrupted", that was being kind, I admire you're restraint.

Give the child a real gun so he doesn't have to make one with his fingers. I use to put my 22 rifle in my high school locker for rabbit hunting after school. I brought my Swedish hunting rifle to school for show-and-tell. It was no big deal back in the sixties. But we didn't shoot people with then either.

Yep and I carried a pocket knife to school in west Texas. Kids were taught to be responsible in the past. Now they are taught to blame someone else.
