My first post but couldn't find intro forum listed. New to this forum but have a tendency to be vocal on topics that interest me. I am from Texas, Close to Galveston. Got my license to carry concealed this year. I will keep looking for the intro forum to post there as well. My computer IQ is minus 0 so please bear with me. Hello to all. By the way I posted here cause I am female and love guns.

Hi,I am new to the forum. I was wanting some advice. I have just recently started thinking about carrying. I took a class so I could get my concealed carry permit. I was wanting to bu a gun for myself. I am not sure what to get. My hands are not very strong so I cant do the slide on the semi auto's and I can't handle much recoil. I shot the Ruger sp 101 and the Ruger gp 100 I loved both guns didn't bother my hands at all. But I need somthing smaller to conceal. If anyone has any ideas do tell.

small guns

I can tell you what you don't want: Kel-Tec P11 or P9. The Glock 26 is a smaller gun but all small guns are going to have some recoil. There is a web site Your Temporary Index that has an interesting article on women racking the slide. You may just think you can't rack a slide. so you might want to read that article. I have a Ruger LCP .380 that is easy to conceal but of course there is a bit of recoil. If you practice you will get used to the recoil. Wish I had more info for you on this. There are also small Sig's and Kahr guns out there that you might find something to suit you. But any small gun is going to have some recoil. You could always carry a larger gun in a fanny pack, I personally, don't favor purse carry, but that is just a matter of choice. You have to have your CHL before (BEFORE) you carry on your person. when I reviewed this post looks like the web site didn't show it is cornered cat

MaBarker, I was curious about your comment on the Kel-Tecs. Can you explain? I own a PF-9, and although I had an issue with the ejector spring and firing pin at first, it was mostly because I didn't do my homework before I tried to tighten a loose screw. Once I put it back together correctly, it worked just fine. Kel-Tec took good care of me, and now the gun works great!

Sounds like you are heading for a revolver and that's fine..
My wife has a plate in her wrist where she broke it in two places..
She was able to Rack a Bursa .380 with no problem, but wound up with a Sig P238 (.380)..

Reply to Fondis Firearms: Pink Lady said she didn't want recoil. I had the P11 and from my experience I didn't like it. It has really hard recoil, trigger pull was very hard. (9Lb) and the thing tried to eat my hand. I wasn't putting my thumb up across the other thumb either it was just a hard gun to shoot. Was told if I didn't like the P11 I sure wouldn't want to go to P9 or was it P3. Whichever. I do have a kel-tec p32 that I have no problems with but a 32 isn't a good protection gun, or so I am told. But that is what I carried daily p32 until I got the Ruger LCP. I don't have anything against Kel-Tec per say, just didn't care for the one P-11. I have been told in regard to Kel-Tec you either love em or hate em. I just didn't like the one I had.:fie:

Thanks Ma, I didn't mean to come across so harsh either. My PF-9 was rough on the backstrap, but I took the advice of someone on another forum and sanded down the ribs. It feels much better now. It does have a bit of a bark, but overall I probably give it a B+ rating.

I took no offense at your question Fondis Firearms. I should have stated the resoning for my reply to pinklady in regard to the Kel-Tec's.

Welcome! I like to read these posts that were written by some of the females to get a different perspective on firearms and CCW. Lots of us guys tend to look a guns as an extention of our person and tend to get touchy over different aspects of them, but I think that women tend to shed a different type of light on the subject. Anyways, welcome and join in on some of the other topics. I think we need some of that different opinion mixed in with them.
