Interesting CCW map of Washington State

Published by TV station. One interesting point is that the percentage in Seattle is very low. Yet they seem to have the highest gun violence. Interview with city police chief said we always encourage people not to carry guns because of the problem of children getting them, being used in domestic violence, and suicide.

All they really gave was numbers...what it boils down to is a BG can now get a better idea of where he/she could do better and where he/she should think twice before messing around...some of those areas have a pretty high ratio.

Is there a specific prohibition on release of statistical summary information on permits?

How is it unethical?

Did you note how many of the high percentage areas are low population density areas?

I watched the report when it aired and was a bit taken back by the misinformation given by the reporter. It's a game of semantics, but it's the content that creates the message. Reporter Chris Halsne is obviously not among the "370,000 Washingtonians (that) have the legal right to carry a handgun outside their home."

This is why the Anti camp remains ignorant to reality and facts, this is the misinformation they are spoon fed.

So if my house gets robbed I am going to sue Kiro for letting strangers know that my house has a gun due to me having a CPL. Why create this map all it does is show criminals what areas to avoid if you don't want to get shot and what areas to hit if you are looking for guns to steal.

Um, yes...does it make a difference? The BG still doesn't have names or addresses of those that do or don't have weapons so it's still a crap shoot...difference being in a rural area the BG may just never be heard from again. I know Washington State very well and know how they "operate" in the sticks there...

I have been working for over 4 years with an Intelligence company on an infamous serial killer case. This is for real. The killer lives in Seattle and in 2006 killed two women in a park by shooting them in the head with a .22

But why carry a gun right? This killer also killed in Calif in 2010.

So what's the serial killer's name? I lived in Seattle when the Green River Killer was being looked for. They had all kinds of theories of who it was including one, IRC, of a Japanese businessman that would come over and kill while here working. Of course, it turned out to be a run of the mill SK, although married, which is unusual.

No. Rural areas have always had higher numbers of gun ownership in general. That's one reason why they've also had lower numbers of crimes in general.

Rural areas equal the perception of longer LEO response times and those folks tend to be a bit more self-reliant since they don't have the "security" of living in a city where there is a cop around every corner to take care of them because they can't/won't do it themselves.

What city has a cop around every corner to take care of their citizens? I live in the country and I get pretty good response if and when I call 911, just as good as I did when I lived in town. You were right when you used the word 'perception', because that's all it really is. There are some rural areas that have longer response times, but it is by no means the norm. There are urban areas that have long response times too. I think you have the self reliant part right, but I don't think it's due to LEO response times.

To be fair, this is a map showing only CCW permit holder percentages, and holds no data as to actual firearm ownership.
