Not sure how many people would be interested but I thought I'd list a couple of books I've read recently that are either about Carrying, Guns, and/or Self Defense in general:
Do you have any favorite carry and/or self defense books? Let the rest of us know.
I also plan on reviewing some fiction books later when I get the chance.

This first one by Massad Ayoob is a pretty good read. He pretty much covers the basic of what you need to know about carrying and also throws in some stories to help support his ideas. He illustrates some tactical aspects of self-defense, practical information like choosing the right firearm and ammunition, buying used guns, and even some legal aspects of self-defense. Written in 2008 the information isn't too outdated but I'd cross-reference it with newer stuff. While more of a beginner's guide I think it still has some useful information for even the more experienced of carriers. It's not too long and has some pictures/illustrations to help break-up the monotony of some parts of the text. It's available on Kindle and other devices as well as in "old school" book format. If you have a Kindle and are a Prime Member from Amazon you can read it for free through their "Kindle Owners Lending Library" program.

While Ayoob is listed as an author the book is primarily written by Eimer. Another good beginner's book this one not only covers some of the same ground as the The Gun Digest Book but provides more insight in the the mindset one should try to have when carrying. Being a doctor of psychology, Eimer provides some really good advice, insight and even share some personal experiences all in a manner that's easy to understand and soak-up without throwing a bunch of jargon and psyco-babble in the mix. The publisher lists these as some of the topics covered: Why going armed is about owning your safety, not just a handgun; The true mindset that drives anti-gunners; How to avoid the "Hero Syndrome"; What rules of engagement lead to justifiable use of force; How to deal with the trauma after a shooting incident; Practical dry-fire and live-fire drills; Weapon retention--keeping a gun grab from happening to you; The Force Continuum--how it works and the actions you'll take along its course to survive an attack; etc. I found this book to be very intriguing and never reached a point where I wanted to skip ahead because I got bored. If you were going to read one book on Concealed Carry this should probably be that book. Available in digital and regular formats it is also a Kindle Lending Library book so you can get it for free as a Prime member and Kindle owner.

I'm not really sure how to describe this last book. While not a book on carrying it is a self defense book and (for me) a very, very entertaining and enjoyable read. It's an in-your-face, no-holds-barred reality check on what self defense really is. I laughed out loud on numerous occasions but also came away with a new and improved perspective on self defense. Containing the occasional profanity, un-politically correct statement and plenty of "I can't believe he just said that!" moments it's definitely for a more mature and open-minded audience that the other two books. I really can't stress how great a read this was. I read the Kindle addition and seriously highlighted tons of passages and quotes for future reference. This was a follow up to his first book (Link Removed) which I haven't read yet but that book is more hands-on while this is more minds-on. Seriously, do whatever you need to do to get your hands on this book. I promise you won't regret it. The Kindle edition is only $3.03 and can be read on a computer if you don't have a Kindle. I believe there's also a Kindle App for all you iUsers out there. But seriously, read it.
