All receivers are about he same. If it has a known name on it then you will have no issues. There are about 7 major places that MAKE lowers for many of the known names.Im in my planing stage to build an AR-15. It was suggested I start with a DPMS reciever. What are your thoughts on this brand?
Not a DPMS fan.
And a whole lot more than you might want to know. It will give you BRD.:wink:AR15.Com - Your Firearm Resource. (AR-15, AR-10, M4 Carbine, M16, H&K, SIG, FNH, FAL, AK-47, 50 Cal, M1/M1A, Handgun, Pistol, Training, Hunting, and More!) You can probably find out everything you need to know right there. Although Stag uppers and lowers are very good. Especially if your left handed.
Mines been flawless, picked it up 3 years ago.
Next will be something a little different; maybe a .308 AR-10
DPMS had a few spec issues many years ago in the infancy. Those have long sense gone. the fact is almost all lowers are made of 7075-T6 and are almost all the same. Many of the brand names have there lowers made by others anyway. I figure I will ask here. as you do not seem to like DPMS. How many DPMS rifles/ lowers have you personally owned? What where the exact issues you had? Did you call there service dept and if so what was the result? I have owned about a dozen myself still own three and have had ZERO issues with them.DPMS is the Taurus of AR 15's IMHO ..... I'm certainly glad yours has not given you any problems.

Close up the ak is fine but not any good for long work. Also to build a AK requires more then a ar does..Can I suggest an AK build instead?

As a member of the banned form ar15.com club I have to say the site is sad. Facts play little role when dealing with those who are in charge or think they are. There is some good information on there recourse pages but that about it. If you feel you need step by step instruction buy the AGI course on the ar it is a great source of information for beginners. You really need to spend time on AR15.com. That is IMHO "THE" place to go for this kind of question. AR 15, AR 10, AK. They have the info on all of it. Many of the home town forums are very active with enough experts to guide you. As for the person who wants to know why you would want to build one? - Trigger systems, barrel type, specific mods and a thousand others. Plus it is just fun!
True as most of the parts are only made by a few companies and sold under many names.I have built a few and like spikes parts. But most of the major parts makers are good.
