Well I found out why I do not have my permit 5 weeks after I "filed and paid"...Indiana State Police says my local constabulary in Austin has not filed my permit yet. Going to contact them on Monday morning about that...sigh....I hate incompetence...especially whe I was told "they" would file it after i paid my fee of which I have their signed receipt...

I've never heard of Austin, IN. You have to complete a portion of the process at your local P.D. anyways so you would have had to go there eventually. Good luck...hope you're successful!

7 days for my permit

My local sheriffs office (Hancock Co) told me to use the electronic fingerprint submittal ($10 more) or it would take 6-8 weeks. I did that and got mine in a week...

I did that was printed at Scott County Sheriff's Dpt.....Austin did not submit to State....

Knew a couple of girls from Scottsburg. Can't remember their names..... Hummmmmm....

Oh, and make sure you get the lifetime permit at some point if it is offered!

Good luck! Got mine in less than a week, and that's with taking the class and sending it the next day too.

I went to local pd did actual prints sent all in & got my lifetime in bout 7 wks. I know time depends on how busy they are in processing. Get a lifetime if you can afford it . Worth it in long run
