I live in Illinois and wanted to get a concealed carry permit from the State of Indiana. After looking at their internet site, it looked like I could obtain a permit even though living in Illinois. However, as I filled out the application it told me that I needed to either live in Indiana or have a business location in Indiana. Am I out in the cold?

Yes, Indiana does not issue non-resident permits unless you have a regular place of business in the state. Get a Utah permit, or other state that does non-resident permits, and it will be good in Indiana. They recognize all carry permits.

Utah requires that you have a CCW from your state of residence to get a non-resident permit. Have to look at other state regs.

Only if your home state honors/recognizes the UT permit. Since IL doesn't the OP can get the UT permit.
