In which direction do you lace your belt?

So I have always laced my belt counter clockwise and never gave it a thought when I started carrying a few years ago. Tonight I was thinking if going clockwise would help pull the grip in tighter. I tried it and I think it actually made a big difference. Did anyone else ever notice this? I feel like I should have thought about this years ago. Btw, iwb on right side about 4 o'clock. I assume this is the most common carry spot but I could be wrong.

It might depend on your holster too. I just have a single clip leather holster, not anything really nice. I really want to get myself a Crossbreed.

I have a Crossbreed and have tried the belt both ways. I also carry right side at about 4 o'clock. I don't think it really made any difference, but it might depend on what belt you use, the pants you wear, etc. I have a Crossbreed belt and a Wilderness 5-stitch Instructor belt and I almost always wear jeans when I carry.

Isn't that how women lace their belts? I didn't notice a difference when I tried, but if it work better for you, that is all that really matters.

Yea, I think the whole combo matters. Let me first say that I don't have what I should, we have a very tight budget. I'm almost always wearing jeans, 1.5" wide belt (but not thick like a gun belt) and the leather iwb holster with the single metal clip. I know nice holsters like the Crossbreed are supposed to pull it in tight against your body, mine doesn't really do that. So I guess it might only make a difference with a similar poor setup like I have. I really do want to order a Minituck soon though.

It also took me a few years to think about flipping. It keeps my carry belt (1/4 x 1 1/2 inches) from sagging, even after being overloaded with a gun, multitool, flashlight, nuts and bolts, etc.
I flip every time I change pants, often a couple of times a day.
Somebody told me many years ago that boys thread their belt loops this way, and girls the other. Well, if someone doubts my masculinity, does this mean it is okay if your girlfriend spends the night at my place sometimes? :) Just kidding!

Lol. I'm not sure how women do it, I'll watch my wife next time. I was just curious if anyone else found it better on way or the other. I just think which ever way you pull your belt to buckle it is the direction that your gun will get pulled in to your body. Hope that makes sense the way I explain it.

Try the 5.11 trainer belt i think it is called. You lace it thru loops then buckle then it doubles back thru buckle to really tighten down. One pull and it get tighter then any belt with holes in it.

Here's my theory...

I'll bet the OP'er doesn't have a real gun belt. As such, his old belt is curved in a U-shape. When he turned it around, it changed it's "sag" to a "push" and actually did feel better on his hip.

It'll be better for a while...until the belt starts sagging again.

(How's that for science?)

I said I don't have a gun belt, it's wide but not thick. I know it's sags a little bit but not a lot, pretty light gun though. Maybe when I save enough for a gun belt and a crossbreed my problems will be solved for good. I know just a belt would make a huge difference.

Huh, don't have a gun belt...but out of a habit forced upon me, I always lace my belt to the left. I also cut the excess down to 3 inches, which I just realized helps with crossdraw. When my belt begins to loosen, I buy another and cut the metal parts off and let my dog chew on it for a while. Carry at about 3:30 right hand side, although I'm ambidextrous.

If you try lacing it the other way let me know if it makes a difference for you.
