Our friends at the California Rifle and Pistol Association need your help in STOPPING AB1810, AB1934, and AB2223 dead in their legislative tracks. All three of these bills are currently pending in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. AB1810 and AB2223 are set for hearing on April 28, 2010 and AB1934 will be scheduled soon.
Act now and join other CCRKBA and CRPA members and supporters and voice your strong opposition to all three of these anti-gun and anti-hunting bills! Call and/or email the Assembly Appropriations Committee members and urge a NO VOTE on each of these bills.

ASSEMBLY BILL 1810 would establish a registration system for newly acquired rifles and shotguns, similar to the one currently in place for handguns. This dangerous bill is authored by Assembly Member Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles), the same politician who brought us the micro-stamping fiasco.
Under AB1810, the make, model and serial number of the firearm as well as the identifying information of the purchaser would be recorded and kept on file by the California Attorney General's office.
If AB1810 is enacted, violent criminals will continue to obtain firearms through illegal means. AB1810 would impose additional burdens on California's taxpayers to maintain the registration system as well as on the state's licensed firearms dealers and small businesses who already deal with extensive recordkeeping requirements.
ASSEMBLY BILL 1934 would ban your right to openly carry a handgun on your person in plain view. Among other things, this bill would prohibit licensed hunters from openly carrying loaded handguns while hunting in specified public areas. The existing exemption for hunters, fishermen, and campers to carry a handgun in remote areas would be eliminated. Hunters would only be able to openly carry an unloaded handgun when traversing specified public areas. This bill is an outright attack on your right to openly carry a handgun for legitimate purposes.
ASSEMBLY BILL 2223 would prohibit the use of lead shot on state wildlife areas and ecological reserves. Assembly Member Pedro Nava is the author of this bill and is the same legislator who authored AB821, the current condor lead zone ban. AB2223 is anti-hunting and is clearly an attempt to circumvent the regulatory process delegated to the Fish and Game Commission. This bill is a reaction to the blow dealt to anti-hunters when the Commission voted not to expand the lead ban in the condor zone in August 2009. This bill is supported by the Humane Society of the United States.
