I'm going to be travel in from Ohio to west of Knoxville Tenn with my wife and my 8month old for a family reunion At a public park. Is there any special laws that I need to be aware of or any thing interesting to go see I'll be taking 75 out of Ohio hopefully meeting up with my parents Cincinnati and driving 2 cars. I'll be down there second weekend in August.

Check out Handgunlaw.us. Both, Kentucky and Tennessee, honor your carry permit. I recommend printing out the info sheets for both states. There are some differences. Don't accidentally or intentionally cross into Illinois when you drive through Cincinnati (I-275, west side of the loop)!

Knoxville is quite firearm friendly. You rarely see a "No Guns" sign (which has the force of law). Stay out of East, South and North Knoxville. Downtown Knoxville is fine during daytime. West Knoxville has the least amount of crimes. (for further information: RAIDS Online: Regional Analysis and Information Sharing and Friend or Foe - Pro and Anti Gun Business Database)

Consider visiting the Smoky Mountain National Park near Knoxville (e.g. Gatlinburg, Chimney Tops, Newfound Gap, Cades Cove Loop). You can carry in the National Park. Be aware of the black bears. There were recent black bear sightings and related car accidents in and around Knoxville. The park itself is rather crowded over the weekend.

You don't have to worry about Kentucky. Our state is very gun friendly and liberal about where you can carry your firearm. Do be aware of theses laws though if you are planning on stopping in our great state. They are easily found on line.
