Let's assume that they will pass C&C in the great state of Illinois. What steps should or can I take to get a head start on the process. Should I get a Utah permit or just take some basic classes?? I just want to be legal ASAP.

Yes even though we are living behind the lines in the People's Democratic Republic of Illinoistan we can own guns. It is just depending on where you live what you can own and the hoops you have to jump through. As far as the original question there is no way of knowing what the requirements will be so no way to get a jump on them.

I would suggest that if you plan on doing any travel out of state that you ahead and get a Utah permit regardless. Odds are even if Illinios does start to issue CC permits they won't recognize or be recognized in a lot of other states. Just be prepared that it won't be enough to get your Il. permit. Always assume worst case-state mandated training course-training hours requirement-showing of need-etc., then you won't be suprised.

That's a FOOLISH assumption, about as foolish as assuming that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will convert to Pentecostalism and declare chitlin's the national dish of Iran.

The ONLY way Illinois (never mind Apartheid Chicago) is EVER going to get concealed carry is via Supreme Court decision. It's the ONLY way the handgun bans in Chicago and its suburbs went away.

In general, people in Illinois LIKE corruption and an oppressive, overweening government. This goes tenfold in Chicago, and Chicago runs the state.

Plan based on what's likely, NOT what's totally UNlikely.

You actually CAN... but only if you're a cop, a member of the Chicago City Council or a criminal with political connections... but I repeat myself.

You shoudnt get your hopes up. Accept that there is no "great state of Illinois" and move out of there.
