Illinois concealed carry

I would venture a guess that it will end up being like Maryland. Have concealed carry permits but very few people get them.
You are so right. It was very difficult in Maryland. Hired a security company consultant MSP certified for training and basically followed Florida application for supplied information. Can't remember how many days but it was not quick. Illinois...good luck we have been fighting for over 2 years to have the "good and substantial" clause removed from our CCW process. Don't give up!

Madigan is in a huge pickle with this one. On one side, if she doesn't appeal, she'll appear to be pro-gun (say hi to the Machine, Lisa). On the other end, if she does appeal, it'll really piss off the downstate Dems who are pro-gun rights and pro CC. I read a piece, can't remember the author but he basically stated that she will not appeal because SCOTUS won't hear it due to its clarity, thus embarrassing her further. There really is no Constitutional dispute for SCOTUS to rule on since Posner's opinion is in line with Heller and McDonald. Also, if SCOTUS (the current status quo maintained o course) does hear it, it's almost a certainty that the ruling will be upheld which would have nationwide ramifications. CA and NY would be forced to rewrite their statutes so I'm sure Jerry Brown and Andrew Cuomo are begging her to just let it be. I'm no attorney though.

As far as what the pols in Springfield craft, that's a totally different story. I have a feeling that whatever they pass will be highly restrictive and end up back in front of the Seventh, maybe SCOTUS. I'll be a grandfather before this is resolved and I don't have any children yet.
