I came across Sam Biddle's post recently on the website Gizmodo. It shows an idiot testing out his bullet proof vest while wearing it. Fortunately it worked.

The author's comment was "If you need any further proof that handguns should be illegal..."

I urge you to write this guy directly. I did and I commented too. Many people commented about his paper thin rant against 2A and responsible gun ownership.

I am outraged for more than just the anti-gun jab, but the fact that Gizmodo is a techy gear site, not a political or weapon related zine.

Astounding Gentleman Shoots Himself in the Stomach Point Blank to Test Body Armor

Explain to me what this has to do with the 2nd Amendment. It is more a case of Darwinism failing, or at the least a case where an individual is trying to make firearm owners look bad.

That's actually nothing new. Richard Davis, the guy who founded Second Chance Body Armor, and one of the first to use kevlar in vests, shot himself in demonstrations over 200 times.

I took the time to write the author. I asked him some simple questions and chose not to assume anything with his article. I will let you know what his responses are.

For everyone that wrote this tech author, I am subscribing to this simply so I can hear what he has to say!

Really

The fact that the guy is testing body armor has nothing to do with guns. If you think guns should be illegal then walk the streets of Detroit without one. Get out of your nice comfy home and wake up. Men will do evil to those who are weak your no different and I can prove it..

Being in the emergency medical field I look at this as job security. You can't fix or legislate safety for stupid.

What that article proves, is any idiot can blog whatever b.s. he wants thanks to the Internet. Even if it goes against our Constitution.

Idiots.

Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

Your telling me they couldnt test this on a dummy? (or maybe they did?)

If their point of the article is that firearms should be illegal for people who do idiotic stuff like this, i think they hit it spot on. A good start is keeping a firearm from these fools. Lets hope this isnt the new planking...

"If their point of the article is that firearms should be illegal for people who do idiotic stuff like this, i think they hit it spot on."

Don't disagree, but that is not what it says. It says ALL FIREARMS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL and that is a terrifying statement.

Don't be naive when it comes to the strength of media and anti gun statements. Just support responsible gun ownership and the constitution.

Kind of wish the armor had failed...that way another moron with a firearm would not be polluting the 2A

I'm wondering what a tech blog is doing writing about firearms. Don't they have better things to cover like WoW and writing tutorials on speaking Klingon? (no offense if you do speak? it)

I wish I could find the article, but a few years ago the was a law enforcement officer who did a similar test. I guess the angle of the gun was to the point that the bullet rode up the vest and to the front of his face off. I think all body armor should be tested, but isn't that why they have test dummies? It never ceases to amaze me of some of the clueless things people do for attention.
This man was fortunate that he didn't take his own life! All I can say is WOW and Here's Your Sign.

Okay, so there is no intelligence test to buy a firearm. He broke several existing laws with that little demonstration of idiocy; he discharged a firearm (presumably) within city limits and (definitely) inside an occupied dwelling, not in self-defense (do ya think?) and then video'd it and put it on the World Wide Web. Freedom is a wonderful thing; I'm glad this guy is able to buy guns. If he didn't have access to a gun he probably would have tried running over himself with a Mack truck or something. What is really disturbing is the fact that on the back of his vest it says "Security," which very likely indicates that he works as a security guard someplace. And that is why I would prefer to carry my own gun, rather than depend on the likes of this gentleman to keep me safe, thank you very much.

LOL! Got too close to the bottom of the gene pool!
