Didn't see this posted in here recently so I thought I'd add it. Link Removed was signed into law and takes effect July 1.

A controversial bill to allow guns on Idaho college campuses has been signed into law by Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter.
The legislation allows a limited group of people to carry concealed weapons on college and university campuses. Supporters say the bill protects people's Second Amendment rights.
In his approval letter, Otter stated that he has a sworn responsibility to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution, and this legislation fulfills that charge. He vowed to carefully monitor the situation to alleviate any safety concerns.
Senate Bill 1254 garnered a lot of opposition from college professors, university administrators and students. Multiple Idaho police chiefs and the heads of all of Idaho's colleges and universities oppose the bill.
However, the Idaho Sheriff's Association is supporting this legislation that would allow retired law enforcement officers and people with enhanced concealed carry permits to bring a gun on campus.
The bill does not allow concealed carry inside a dorm or residence hall, or inside an auditorium or stadium with seating for at least 1,000 people.
Nampa Sen. Curt McKenzie sponsored the bill. He says there's language in the bill that allows college and university leaders to ban open carry of firearms on campuses.
The bill easily won approval in the Idaho House and Senate. It becomes law on July 1.

Only LEO or those with Enhanced ID permits. Nothing said about out of staters.

So, almost zero people will actually ever benefit from this law. Certainly students won't (no carry in dorms) and faculty won't (employment policy prohibits weapons)

Looks good on paper, but that's all it's worth.

Thought it was a good idea

I wasn't aware of the restrictions...Pretty worthless, isn't it?

I heard that this law would over ride the employment policy; since as public colleges and universities receive state money, than they must follow state law, including this.

The first positive of this law is scaring a potential crazy into taking his madness to a gun free zone. They are never so crazy as to try shooting up a place where the potential for armed victims are. Now we need to eliminate more gun free zones, especially elementary and secondary schools. There will be some students who will be old enough to obtain a permit and will probably carry. And despite the professors protest, some of them will also carry.
