But I do know how to be safe and I have to say I was dumbfounded by what I came across today at the range. At my range, they have an indoor/outdoor range and what I mean by that is, you are totally enclosed in a building (heated too!) and you shoot to the outside through some trap doors that are about the size of a house window.
So there I am shooting and a couple decided to go try out their rifle and I'm good with that except you DO NOT set up camp in FRONT of a LIVE firing range! I guess the warnings that are plastered everywhere and perhaps the BUILDING that says RANGE mean nothing because they obviously have no common sense. I ended up telling the RO who took care of business quickly telling them to leave and afterwards he told me what he found out. This couple was looking for a place to shoot and someone recommended my range which is all fine and dandy but they didn't stop to think about PERHAPS reading any of the rules. Maybe by JOINING the range first?!? I guess they thought it was a free-for-all and if you had a gun you were good to go. They just drove in and decided to have some fun.
And not that his tidbit has anything to do with the topic at hand but many of you may recall a story that made nation wide news a few years ago where a 9 y/o boy was shooting a sub machine gun and shot himself in the head (fatally) during a police sponsored shoot. Well, this is the club except he was a few ranges down.
