Sure, feel free to leave your car running and unattended. But when it gets stolen, dont call the police and whine that your car is gone. If you're going to do something stupid like make your car an easy steal, dont waste our tax dollars trying to enlist the police to go get it back for you.

How does this have to deal with general firearms discussion again?

I think this would be a privilege not a right. Regardless leaving your unlocked unattended car running is a lot like placing your large-screen TV on the porch with a "steal me please" sign. In a perfect world you could do what you say and no one would steal it. We don't live in that world. Welcome to Earth.

I love Alaska. Any one at any time may be armed and even when our vehicles are running (many at a time in a parking lot in cold weather) our thieves are a bit more sceptical.
However I think I did hear Anchorage may have an idling law that requires a remote start system.

In a perfect world you would be able to leave your car doors unlocked and your car running. This is not a perfect world. It is naive to leave valuable property unprotected for the sake of convenience. I lock my car, I lock my front door, I protect my property as best I can. Why make it easy for the criminals.

Itsb, I am of the same mind... it's mine... I worked for the money, and bought it for my family and me... therefore, you need to leave it alone.
But I am also as smart as my limited intelligence allows me to be. If I crank my truck in the A.M., to get warmed up before I leave for the fire department, I'm either in it, or it is locked. If I see you trying to steal it, I'll stop you... and you will either go to jail or the hospital... it will be your choice. That's just me.

dont take wrong, its not a good idea to leave running and unlocked,my point is that when an auto is jacked it seams that it is turned to the owners falt!and the fact that it was STOLEN seams to disaper!no it is not a perfic world!we need to stop trying to put even parsal blame on lawabying people!sure it is easer to be stolen,BUT HE WAS STILL TRYING TO STEAL!!!!!!!

If a person becomes a victim due to their negligence, I blame the criminal and the "victim" who facilitated the crime.
