I just felt a strong urge to join the NRA

I've always loved firearms but kinda lost my drive to own after being in a Spec Ops unit in the Army.. Mini-Guns will ruin a desire to pull a trigger.... But in last couple years I've gained my interest back and have bought several more, gotten CHCL, and everything has been fine...

Friday, as awful as it was, just concreted my desire to join the NRA for the first time in my life. Did the one year but think a lifetime membership will be in the books for next time. Scared if we don't support the NRA that this government will strip right after right from us law abiding citizens.

Great! Welcome to the cause. It's gonna be a hard road ahead of us. But the hard won battles are the best victories. Good luck, shoot straight and always keep and bear arms, for our fathers sake.

For more than thirty years I have jumped up and down yelling at friends and coworker, all but save a few who are gun owners, to join the NRA. Each one told me they could not foresee the loss of their rifles, shotguns or handguns.
Who else but the NRA has as much hard cold information for us? Who has top weapons experts both government and private on the issue of ballistics and related science?
Also available to members are various insurance programs. Gun insurance, cancer insurance and life insurance. In addition, the number one lobby group.
On the O’Reilly Factor, Fox News, last night The Second Amendment Foundation spokesmen gave a very detailed interview with pure hard facts. I had a lot of respect for Mr. O’Rielly and Mr. Alan Gottlieb exchange. Respectful, insightful and thorough. I shall join this and JPFO once again and presents memberships to my family that are not members of the NRA.

The NRA ain't perfect but they accomplish a lot for the RKBA so everyone who respects that right should be a member.
There are many additional groups that do a lot as well and can always use the support such as GOA, SAF, NAGR, JPFO and state level agencies including NRA state affiliates.
We need all of these groups to have the funding to fight the hard fight that is surely coming.

I too was away from my interest in guns but got the bug again a couple years ago. I rejoined the NRA at that time and SAF Friday night after seeing how reasoned and eloquent Mr Gottlieb was on The O'Reilly Factor. I think it's a crying shame and hopefully won't be the death of the 2nd amendment someday that so few gun enthusiasts and hunters are members.

Welcome to the club. As many above have stated (especially Domineaux ) There are many sub groups also fighting the good fight, but when it comes down to who has the juice and wields the political power in Washington you don't have to look any further than the NRA. I'd been a yearly member for years, but being a certified Instructor & Range Safety Officer (and hopefully recruiter) I felt it time to take the plunge and go lifer. I figured I could swing $25 quarterly. Although what happened was a tragedy the knee jerk, anti gun, reactionaries are just licking their chops. In this time of uncertainty I wish all of us good luck!

I saw that option and was about to select it but was hesitant with it being the first time and all. Everything goes well and I either land a high paying job or the VA decides to go ahead and 100% me, I'll go the lifetime but I'd have to do it faster because I have a real hard time "owing" people money.. 10 years of dues would drive me insane.

I'll check out some of the other orgs also.

We dont just shoot hunt and exercise our 2a right either! We also lobby, a lot more fun than it looks, and sometimes..we EAT. lol
