This morning at a local sporting goods store I thought that I had lucked out when they still had two AR’s for sell. I was feeling pretty smug while they were ringing one of the AR’s up for me, but I was dismayed when the clerk pulled the rifle back off the counter and told me that I had been denied. I was in total disbelief. I had just purchased two hand guns from that very store in the past two months and I sailed right through the background check. I have not been arrested, and I was just issued a CCW from my parish a couple of weeks ago. I called the number on the denial brochure that the clerk had given me, but I couldn’t get through. I went to the website and requested the reason for the denial, but according to the site it will take five days.
Has anyone gone through this before? What do you think could have happened? Do they only allow you to buy so many guns during a set period? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

UPDATE:
Yesterday, I received a letter from the FBI NICS division explaining that I was denied due to a match from a "local agency data base". Turns out my state, Louisiana, has some sort of protective order on file against someone with my name. His DOB is one digit off from mine. It’s looking like the clerk at the store mistyped my DOB in the request for the background check.
My suggestion to anyone wrongfully denied on the background check is to have the clerk double check that all your information is correct before leaving the store. I hope this helps someone out there.
As far as me getting an AR...let’s just say that a special Santa Claus made my Christmas. Cheers, everyone.
