I am not a criminal, but.....

I know where you keep your gun. Seems to me that the nightstand is very popular. I not only read about it here, but if you listen to people and read just about anywhere else, you will find that the nightstand is the choice of many. With criminals having this knowledge, is the night stand really the best place? I just wonder if good, career criminals monitor internet forums to learn tactics?

if the career criminal steals the gun from my nightstand while I am sleeping, RIGHT NEXT TO IT..I have far worse problems than where I keep my firearm.

I keep mine in my night stand but highly highly doubt they will get to it my dogs bark at anything half a mile from my house I live in a pretty secluded area my dogs have full roam of the area bordering my house I have 2 doors with 2 very good locks and a expensive alarm system not to mention I'm a light sleeper to begin with

Several years ago I was watching one of those daytime talk shows, and there was a man on the show who claimed to be an expert burglar and had been doing so for many years. He did eventually get caught and did some time in prison, but his "claim to fame" was burglarizing homes that he knew people where in, mostly during sleeping hours. He claimed that it was a thrill to burglarize bedrooms, where most jewelry and guns are kept, even while the homeowners were asleep in bed. I don't remember if he mentioned anything about stealing guns, but still takes a crazy person to do this.

I told where my 'sleeping guns' are in the other post, but when I leave the house either the guns go with me, and many times they do, or are secured in such a manner that it would take destroying the house, and a truck with chains to get to them. I do not condone allowing a gun to reach the streets because of my lack of security.
And you are correct, I see lot's of stuff on the site that is way too much info.

New sign for your front and back door. "If I am home my gun is with me. If I am not home my gun is with me. I would bet all here have more then one. Nobody has to know that. Just leave those in a good safe.

I'm sure there are some criminals who might tool around internet sites to gather information before breaking into a home, but it has been my experienced that more conniving the criminal, the more likely they are to be involved in non-violent fraud type crime, which is relatively easy to pull off (and almost just as easy to get caught if in the US - that's why so many of the scams are now sourced in 3rd world countries.)
