I am looking to answer correctly to a post .

So I posted a comment on Facebook. A picture that said "One guy in the crowd could have saved everyone last night." The picture included a civilian who carries a gun. And a friend posted back saying:

"or one guy in the crowd could have killed 12 people, and injured 50+... depends how you view it. Illegal guns are the problem, nobody needs military grade weapons for their every day life."

I just don't agree with him and feel I have to reply, BUT at the same time I do not want to start something negative.

Any suggestions???

Well, when something like this happens, my liberal friends always say something to that effect, and I always say, YOU'RE TOTALLY RIGHT.

You shouldn't have to walk around in fear. You shouldn't have to carry a gun. People shouldn't have access to illegal weapons. No one needs a military-grade semi-automatic rifle. But until you can get rid of ALL the guns, and ALL the bad guys, and ALL the ways they can get guns, and bombs, and knives without going through proper channels, I'm gonna carry to even up my odds just a little bit.

Only one person committed a criminal act, the good honest folks that obeyed the law and did not take a gun to the theater died. Once again the call to banish guns instead of the criminal. Every major mass murder has been carried out by criminal/crazy individuals in an area that did not allow law abiding folks their own defense. Where were the police stopping this evil act in Colorado, Waco, Columbine, answer never there. I for one will never be disarmed at any time now or in the future. You don't want my gun and myself in you business, you will not have my business. This was a sad criminal/crazy act by an individual. I have purchased all my guns legally in accordance with the law, but I can guarantee you I could have an illegal gun within 2 hours in the Houston Metro Area, the cops know this, the criminals know this and only a total fool would have you believe the police can or will protect you. End of rant, God Bless the Families and Friends of the injured and slain individuals.

Localgirl I love your view of the situation, I agree that I will even up my odds as well. And Nightmare45 I seldom go to the movies just because of the fact that guns are not allowed and I honestly can't understand it but there are places I don't go as well because of it. Thanks for the feedback I am going to answer accordingly.

Thanks justxboxin, But there are consequences to that, I unfortunately cannot take that risk because of my children. I do wish certain places did not restrict us.

Don't frame your rebuttal around gun control or gun rights. It's not what needs to be debated here. The issue is about a sick person who decided to do harm to others and choose a certain tool to do it. This same guy could've stole a bus and drove it into a crowd at a farmers market on a Sunday morning and killed or hurt the same number of people. It's not the gun...it's the evil person who choose the gun as a tool to create their havoc.

Another tack I like to take, along those same lines, is to say Why yes, I'm totally in favor of gun control. I believe you should find a way to take all guns off the streets. No one should be armed. I should be able to go anywhere at any time without fear. Completely and totally restrict all access to guns. As soon as you can assure me I will NEVER find myself being shot at in a crowded theater, I will NEVER be assaulted in a dark alley, I will NEVER be the victim of a violent crime against my person, I will be the FIRST in line to throw my gun into the fire.

Yeah justxboxin I am not trying to get in trouble carrying where I'm not supposed to, It's just my choice personally who knows the way this world is what I will think tomorrow.

If you remove all the guns from the world the bad guys will attack with bows and arrows. If you remove all the bows and arrows from the world they will attack with knives. If you remove all the knives from the world they will attack with their bare hands. If you remove their bare hands they will headbutt you. So the answer is to remove all their heads to begin with and solve the problem, not to get rid of the implements they abuse.

I still say if everyone in the theater was armed he would have been stopped in about a minute.

That's anti gun thinking . Why take the legal guns away ? Because criminals get em anyway nothing we can do but arm ourselfs and be ready to kill people like this not you the shooter ..

Yes, but you can't convince someone who hates guns that your way of thinking is right. You have to tell them that their way of thinking is right, then ask them to make the impossible, possible. They need to figure out that gun control doesn't work for themselves, or they will never really believe it.

localgirl I will never throw my guns in the fire. My guns are not ONLY for self defense. I love my gun and the sport of shooting. I agree, take all the guns off the street. But leave my legal guns alone.

Agreed I have been carrying a big revolver in pocket and out in the open for months and a lcp for a while . Been carrying seven months now total now I think . Guess how many people got hurt with my gun ???? Anyone can anyone answer ?

I'm gonna let someone else explain this to you, because obviously my hyperbole is getting in the way of my irony.

AMEN SISTER!!! That's exactly how I feel. There is no such thing as being lucky enough to have a policeman standing next to you or your loved ones when they need protecting.

It ain't the gun that did the killing, it was the PERSON that did the killing. He just happened to use a gun. If he'd waited until the movie let out and drove his Honda into the crowd, we wouldn't be discussing banning cars.

Guns are inanimate objects, they don't 'do' anything on their own. You can take a loaded gun - with all the safeties disengaged-, lay it in the middle of Main Street in any town in the world and do you know what will happen if nobody touches it? It will eventually rust away.

Folks really need to quit anthropomorphizing inanimate objects as a means to make an excuse and start holding PEOPLE accountable for THEIR actions instead.

Tell him to watch Nutnfancy's video on the subject posted this morning.

However, I don't even waste my time discussing this type of subject with the libs.
