Upon opening the box for the Hyskore Parallax Cleaning and Sighting Vise , my first impression was that we are not dealing with a cheap piece of plastic. In the past, I have been a victim of vises that were more plastic than metal. Thankfully, this is not the case with this vise. It is a very solid and well-made rifle rest.
Hyskore Cleaning and Sighting Vice GNS-024
With the base already assembled, you only need to add the vertical parts and it is ready to use. All knobs are made of sturdy plastic and the clamps have soft padding to avoid scratches or marring to your rifle. The cleaning tray is made of plastic as well, which is perfect for cleaning dirty and oily parts.
This is not an all day stand to shoot off though. On the box it says, "3 shots, 5 minutes - sighted in!" That is probably the best way to describe it as a bench rest. I would be more than happy to use it in that capacity. For serious all day dialing in of your rifle, the rear buttstock clamps would need to be larger.
As far as its value as a cleaning stand or vise for working on my rifles, it more than meets and exceeds what I look for to clean my antique and modern rifles. This vise will stand up to years of use for any current or aspiring gunsmith, as well as the weekend shooter who is looking for a good cleaning system and sighting vice.
After looking at this vise, I believe I may add it to my own gun workbench. Christmas is less then 90 shopping days away and my wish list needs to start sometime soon!
