Hybrid Holster experiences and preferences

I'm planning on buying a hybrid holster. I have some questions about which brand you prefer, and what type of leather works best for you. Crossbreed, White Hat, Old Faithful, etc? Cowhide or horsehide? Does one brand of holster have better leather than another, and why? I'd love to hear what you're wearing and why you like them. Pictures of your rig would be a bonus. Thanks.

Concealment Solutions Black Mamba

I started out with a Galco KingTuk. The holster was ok but the comfort level wasn't what I'd like to have. I then went to a Crossbreed. I loved it. Very comfortable. I didn't like how the back side is unfinished leather. If you wear dark clothing you end up with little white hairs all over. I ended up with a Black Mamba. There's a video on YouTube comparing the two. I prefer the Black Mamba. I carry a full size M&P.

I have both Crossbreed and Whitehat holsters, I have both cowhide and horsehide. I really like all off them. i have noticed in extreme heat and humidity the horsehide will sweat through .

I cannot make a comparison between the brands you mentioned. However, I carry a Beretta 92 in a Crossbreed SuperTuck and have found it to be a comfortable and effective concealment solution. I don't feel like I have any reason to try anything else personally.

I carry a G26 in a horsehide White Hat every day.

Living in Vegas (where it gets pretty "warm") sweat can be an issue with any IWB holster. The large surface area that the hybrids use to distribute the weight of the weapon can work against you at times. I wear a tee-shirt tucked between the holster and my body. Combined with my underwear, the holster doesn't touch my skin.

you will probably hear most people say they like crossbreeds the best because their a bigger company that man of the others and are advertising everywhere so some people only know of them. for me i went with oldfaithful, i think its a great holster and if you get one of their kits its much cheaper but is still quality, the only reason it is cheaper is because they dont have to pay someone to put them together. the way the oldfaithful holsters work you can adjust the retention of the firearm to fell the way you want it to which i think is a nice advantage.

I carry a PPS in a Theisholsters.com | Home | Custom IWB Holsters horsehide. I wear t-shirts, so the holster is against my skin. Even in the heat and humidity in LoUiSiAna i've had no problems.Every holster is made to order, so expect a 3-4 week lead time.

Well, I agree totally with this post. I carry a CZ 75 Compact in a Theis horsehide/kydex holster. It spreads the heavy weight of the CZ (about 32 ounces empty!!) real well. I even carry my CZ 75 B SA (about 35 ounces empty!!) occasionally and it carries well too.

I also carried a Glock 30SF in a Comp-Tac Minotaur for about 12-18 months and it carried well too.

Good luck with your selection,.

Micro Mamba from Concealment Solutions for my Kahr CM9 just arrived last week. I couldn't be any happier with it. Rock solid construction, and supper comfortable. Great holster.

I use a "Ugly Holster" from Cleveland's Holsters to carry my Walther PPQ. The Ugly holster has 49 cant positions using Chicago screws to adjust it to your perfect cant, it comes with a small tube of locktite to secure it once you find a position that works for you. The Ugly Holster uses 100% American made components, only comes in horsehide for added sweat protection, and the kydex fully covers your weapon so there is no wear points on your pants. Expect 4-6 weeks lead-time on average from your acceptance of the emailed quote.

Try the Old Faithful holster kit...put it together yourself in about 25 minutes. Same as their well made holsters just comes needing to be assembled. Have one and it is comfortable, good retention, and easy to draw/reholster. PLUS it only costs $39
