Its in Indiana ... not Illinois (Northwest Indiana)
This is a real eye opener.... I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin.....we had a whopping 24 cows making milk at a time (good years) ....and yes it was all hand milking for a while.... then around 1958~1960 (?) vacuum auto milking came in and we stepped up to around 35 cows .... still a bunch of work though.... and dealing with all the manure was not quite as 'neat' as this ... if I remember correctly...
This is something to remember when me and my hunny want to go do something later this summer....
Quite interesting. If I ever get to Indiana, that's one of the places I'll visit. I used to milk my Grandpa's cow by hand, and helped with my uncle's cows with the vacuum. About 15 years ago, I had a milking goat, but don't do that anymore.
OK...thanks...sorry I wasn't listening...doing too many things at the same time. Too busy up this end after a trip, my left ear was half shut off. It seems like a beautiful place to go. Just up the other side of Illinois, maybe it will safer to go via Kentucky, a longer way but it is OK...I'll time it when we go to Tennessee. I am sure we will have to go to Tennessee this year.
Hey folks i live about 40 min frim fair oaks. Its an amazing place, and lots to do. I took my nephews and ended up having a pretty good time. You tour the whole farm, they have a couple gift shops and make there own cheese. The day i was there we went through the nursery and my nephews got to see a calf be born. I've had to help birth a bunch of calves when i was younger so it was good to see someone else doing the work.
