How's your latest range day?

Went to the range to get the guns ready for hunting and had a great day. Started off with the rifle, put 5 in a 1" group at 25 yards, moved it up to 75 yards and kept it under 2.5 with 1 out of 15 hitting well low right of the rest of the group. Maybe a flinch?

Second, took the 12 ga out, put 15 slugs in a few targets from 25, had a hair over 3" average group size and 5 more in a 5" group at 40 out of an 18" smoothbore barrel. Amazing how much more accurate new guns are than the used ones...

Moved to the handgun and from 25 with a simulated range target (50 yards), held my grouping to under 4 inches and put a few paper plates at 50 and 75 and held it down to 4" at 50 and 6" at 75, even with 10-20mph wind gusts blowing across the range. Felt good to toss a few boxes downrange. I haven't put it on paper for a few months, so it's good to see grouping on something other than burnt out appliances and empty plastic jugs. Only thing I'd change is the location next time, this range is bench rest only. It's pretty sheltered from the weather though. Good for rainy days.

Thought everyone sold there guns now that obama is going to take care of everyone they have no use.

I have been hording most ammo so have been doing alot of .22 fine tuning. I have been using my marlin model 60 with a 3x9 benched to shoot bug printouts at 50 yards i know I can hit a roach 5-6 out of 10 times, a moth 7-8 out of 10, a fly 1-2 out of 10 and a ladybug 1 out of 15.

forgot the beetles I bag them at about 70% average.

Deer rifle is zeroed in, retested it last weekend at 100 & 150 Yds., good to go. Son is as well with his new rifle for hunting (heading up there tonight actually). Hit abut 85% last skeet day we had, so not bad, son hit about 90% seemed like (damn youth).
Been doing a lot of shooting with the bow since that season is just winding down, after the 1st back to the handguns on a more regular basis. Right now the focus is bambie, much mor realistic than worrying about zombies. :yes2:

My last range day started out coaching the 4H skeet team (of which my kid is a member).
The kids range from 9-15 years old. Everybody had a good time and some of them are starting to catch on. Practice runs about 2 hours, afterwards me and the kid took a break and grabbed McDonalds while the wife drove out, and then we all went to the pistol range. She shot her new P238 for the first time, first couple of magazines she was all over the paper. After that she got the trigger figured out and started putting together some decent groups.

The boy always likes to go pick up lead from the berm at the pistol range, so we did that for a while and then called it a day. It was a great one.

I love my gun club. Open 24/7/365, has enough events to keep folks interested but not so many members that it gets crowded. Kinda hoping it stays just the way it is.

My last skeet shoot was terrible. Terrible. Aaaarrgggghhhhhh! I hit 17%. One of which landed in the mud before I shot it.

Took 4 guns last time. 9mm carbine and AR-15 in 5.56 both had new front hooded cross hair iron sights installed so needed to test. Scope on the 5.56 was set for 100 yards. Iron sights put the rounds in the same areas so it was good. First shot with the S&W 4006 put it right in the X at 7 yards. Next 10 rounds were in a string 2" in length touching each other. 10 after that started another string the same way. S&W 659 made a mess of the 9 and 10 rings.
