Went to the range to get the guns ready for hunting and had a great day. Started off with the rifle, put 5 in a 1" group at 25 yards, moved it up to 75 yards and kept it under 2.5 with 1 out of 15 hitting well low right of the rest of the group. Maybe a flinch?
Second, took the 12 ga out, put 15 slugs in a few targets from 25, had a hair over 3" average group size and 5 more in a 5" group at 40 out of an 18" smoothbore barrel. Amazing how much more accurate new guns are than the used ones...
Moved to the handgun and from 25 with a simulated range target (50 yards), held my grouping to under 4 inches and put a few paper plates at 50 and 75 and held it down to 4" at 50 and 6" at 75, even with 10-20mph wind gusts blowing across the range. Felt good to toss a few boxes downrange. I haven't put it on paper for a few months, so it's good to see grouping on something other than burnt out appliances and empty plastic jugs. Only thing I'd change is the location next time, this range is bench rest only. It's pretty sheltered from the weather though. Good for rainy days.
