A short-barreled rifle, or SBR, is legally defined as a "shoulder-fired, rifle bore" firearm with a barrel of 16 inches or shorter, or a firearm whose overall length is less than 26 inches. An SBR is considered a Title 2 restricted firearm, so it must be registered with the BATF. Click below to see how to navigate through the extensive paperwork and pricey fees required to own an SBR.

It's a sad commentary that we have to register these guns. All because some gangsters in the 30's had better firepower than the police (jealous much) not to mention a law abiding citizen will wait 10 months for his/her SBR. A BG about 10 minutes.

It's not hard if you have a clean record. But why can't we go back to the days when you could buy a Thompson from Sears?

I agree 100 percent. No 4473 no gov involvement in what firearms we buy or own whatsoever. However no matter how much I hope for such a thing as a law abiding citizen I will obey the law as it stands and operate within it.
