How often do you clean yours?

I personally clean my ccw once a month. I do go to the range 2-3times a month, so I just give it a wipe down in between range time. All my other firearms that i don't shoot as often are cleaned and lubed good after they are used. When I first started shooting I cleaned them every time after use, that got a little pricey for cleaning supplies.Just wanted to get an idea what other people do.

As far as completely cleaning and oiling, I clean it every time I use it. I do not know how much you shoot each time, but I put around 200-400 rounds a session...my sessions are once a month if I am lucky. If I do not shoot in a certain month, I will break my firearm down and make sure its still clean of debris.

The BUG that I carry in my pocket gets cleaned monthly, broken down and wiped down weekly, and wiped down quickly daily. Because that method is a pretty dirty method, I will clean it more often.

I clean mine every time I shoot it. I usually go to the range once or twice a week. I shoot about 100 to 150 rounds, when I get home I clean it.

After range time and 150 or so rounds I at least clean the barrel and every 3 or 4 times I break it down and thoroughly clean it. For me this is also an opportunity to inspect the condition of the firearm and it relaxes me.

If I use a gun, I clean a gun. My EDC's get wiped down inside and out, about, once a week. (Depends on, either, how much I sweat or how wet I might get.)

I do my Glock, 'internals' at, about, 1,500 round intervals. My AR-15 ('M-Forgery') gets thoroughly broken down for a complete cleaning at, around, 500 rounds.

I'm, also, obsessive-compulsive about keeping my magazine, 'internals' clean and very lightly oiled.

Gets cleaned after every use, and like Firefighterchen more often for my pocket gun. I not only showed the boy that wanted to date my daughter my 44 magnum, I also showed him the last target that I used at the range. I also mentioned Lorena Bobbit was a friend.

Very good point about cleaning the magazines. I do this as well every time I clean my gun, and is a very important and overlooked part of cleaning.

@ Navy and Santa:

You guys a riot. No kids here yet...and my family has 16 boys (2 brothers, the rest cousins....) I don't think I am having girls when it's time to have kids.

I clean my mags and springs too :)

Whenever my wife is gone for a while I break them down and put the parts in the dishwasher, when there done blow dry with compressor, assemble and reoil with 10-30..............I'm not kidding it works great, on really any gun just got to dry it off good, and no I don't do wood grips in the dishwasher

wow, then I'm a cleaning nut then.

I clean and lube it every other day. the lint and grime you get on the IWB and the salt from sweat and every day dirt will rust the outside of te slide a little bit.

so I try to minimize that.

I use mili-tec for lubrication and hoppies elite for the cleaner.

for hard stuff I use ballistol, but not all the time.

hope it helps.

If I shoot it then I clean it. Why would I want to risk accuracy or function on a dirty weapon that I'm betting my life on? During the few weeks in winter I don't shoot but I carry it, I blow it out with a compressor and wipe it with a silicon cloth daily. Then once a week I break it down and clean it. I think your concern about the cost of cleaning supplies is misplaced. That's just part of the cost of doing business.
