How Much Ammo to Raise Unwarranted Suspicion

I see that I can buy ammo in bulk for 1,000 bullets at a time. This is the way I would go to have a long practice time before needing to reload. I also want to maintain a certain level of inventory, which is yet to be determined.

If I bought ammo in bulk by the 1,000 for three or four different calibers, I am wondering if I would become suspicious even though I am stocking for the following reasons:

1. Better pricing in bulk
2. I believe in practicing with each weapon I might need to use for protection.
3. Assuming one has to be home to receive it, it minimizes the days I would need to take off from work.
4. I do not want to be under stocked if we ever find ourselves in a revolutionary war.
5. I would expect ammo to rise in price, so I would buy tomorrow's ammo at today's price.

I am just wondering how much is too much.

Big Brother knows ( sweet sounding isn't it? Really sounds like it's family not some intrusive Gov't entity)....It's just if they'll correlate data to you specifically. WE the People no longer live in a free society. Expect intrusion and plan for the worst. May not happen but plan. IMHO.

You are on a firearm forum site. You own firearms. You are contemplating ammo purchases. I assume you have talked about firearms with friends over the phone. You are an intelligent person (I read you are chemical engineer). You are already on the federal governments radar, just like we all are on this site.

The only way you wouldn't be on their radar is if you figured out how to maintain your standard of living and somehow live off the grid.

And to answer your question...this is a paraphrase of a quote, I believe is attributed to John D. Rockefeller. He was asked, "When will you know you've made enough millions?"... he responded, "The answer will always be the next million".

Yep. All of us on this forum are on some federal list somewhere. Personally, I think that puts me in good company.

I agree with all the above. We're on this site because we own and/or carry firearms. I would be very disappointed if I haven't made the "Obama Enemy List" by now, Lord knows I've been working on it. I believe in the Constitution, The Bible, and Freedom. It makes me proud to associate myself with other Patriots on this site. Buy as much ammo as you want or are able to afford. Carry on!

I agree! As a Patriot among you fine Patriots, I will continue with my constitutional right via the second amendment.

I have taken classes that last from 1 ro 3 days that require you to arive with no less than 1000-2000 rounds of ammo for each of your weapons (handgun or rifle) so I don't see how purchasing 1,000 rounds at a time is a "large amount." If anyone does ask, tell them it's for a class, or regular range time, or cheaper to buy in bulk, or for an IDPA event.. or just tell them to go away and come back with a warrant.

If you want samples of these classes, check out Tactical Response (James Yeager) or Steve Reichert, or Personal Defense Network (Rob Pincus)

Thanks. I am taking a local NRA safety class that is required for getting a concealed permit. Once I do that, I will apply for the permit so it is in the works while I look for a weapon to carry since a shotgun won't work.

I will definitely look at the Springfield and S&W that was mentioned earlier.

Yep, your name is on a list, as is mine and everyone else that posts on this forum and other gun related forums.

I also set my re-order point for the 3 calibers we shoot at 1,000 rounds, just got another deliver last week.

Economically it makes sense, better price, zero gas driving around looking for 2 boxes here, 3 there, plus the time. Have a number of vendors I have used in the past and continue to use them, and the nice man or woman in brown shorts leaves it on my porch.

I can easily fire 200 rounds in a single session. Three or four times a month, it can add up. A thousand rounds is not really that much when one shoots often. If you have several different weapons, it can add up, but the morons in government usually don't have a clue, so 50 rounds or 5,000 is probably the same to them.

I am on the list and proud of it. Screw'em. Buy what you want. They can't put you on the list 3 times because you bought a bunch of ammo at a good price. The difference is you will be better prepared if you need it. I buy a couple boxes nearly every time I go to the sporting good store (when they have what I want) so I normally add 100 at a time but if I saw a 1,000 for a good price I'd immediately buy it. It isn't like a bank where they notify the feds if you do a transaction larger than $10,000. There is no "trigger point" (I kinda like that pun) for number of rounds purchased.

I don't know the answer. All I do know is citizens' eyebrows raised with multiple criminal alphabet soup agencies request for millions of rounds of ammo to be purchased in the years to come.

That puts them on my list, whether or not the requests were benign or diabolical, or needed...pretty much what this criminal administration is doing to we law-abiding citizens.

Government terrorists calling U.S. citizens terrorists. I see a kettle somewhere.

As others have said, you're on a list already just for visiting this or any pro-gun forum, probably even a site like Cabela's or Cheaper Than Dirt. Also from recent events in the Washington DC or a State like New Jersey, just 1 spent casing is enough to make you a target of the Gestapo-like police tactics. When the idiot, uniformed voters elect a group of Marxists because they're looking more government "free stuff;" just what can you expect? I think this situation clearly illustrates the goals of this Administration. They want to totally disarm the people in order to eliminate any resistance to their Marxist, Utopian goal

I plan on purchasing 1000 rounds at the gunshow in a couple of weeks...if the price is right maybe 2000....can't practice if you have no ammo :)
