I carry not only an extra mag but extra gun because if anything can go wrong it will and as someone once said a second gun is the fastest reload.

It isn't so much balance or distribution but bump and concealment. First I have to get over worrying about whether anyone can see the Glock before I start adding another bump on the other side of my body.

But if you add that bump on the other side people will think you have very symmetrical love handles.

I always carry one extra magazine with me and one in my car. This applies wether I am carrying my G27 or G23.

I definatly carry an extra 5 rounds for my Revolver when carry it.

Usually just the one in the S & W 40. sometimes I take an extra clip (15 rounds)
It really depends on What and where I am going.

I carry a spare mag for my .380 because it only holds 7, and the likelyhood of missing the target with my gun is good because it is a mouse gun. 13 rounds is hopefully enough for battle 5 minutes or less.

Maybe if I carried a 1911 with 8 rounds I'd concider carrying a spare. But I have 16 now and if I need more, I'm in Deep....

Part of carrying extra mags,is also for weapons malfunction. Sometimes you might have to dump the mag. that's already in your gun,clear a jam,then insert fresh mag. Most of the time you don't, just slap,rack,bang.
But, as they say,"one is none,two is one".(Clint Smith).

Weapon has 8 and two spares of 8 each. I don't care what you carry, it could have a malfunction and you don't have time to figure out why the other 15 don't work in your one and only mag.
